I love this album since I listened to It first time. So different, so beautiful, that contrast between clean parts and heavy and darker distorted parts... I always return to this album like It is Calling for me. And that artwork... 😍. One of my favourite albums of all I listened. And those lyrics... Their new works are awesome, but someone said in the comments before me that is album is just another level. I totally agree with that. This one has something hipnotic. I have to listen from the beginning until the end everytime I listen to It. A masterpiece is not enough to describe It. IMHO

Yeah that's why labels aren't always the best man. I'd much rather describe what the instruments are doing/the song structure/ the harmonies and melodies and the emotions conveyed than just say "oh this is prog death" or "this is atmodjent" or some shit. Which, like, it's both in this case imo, but that doesn't REALLY describe the sound just imo haha. There's a local band in my area called Control the Devastator and I'd say they're atmospheric death metal as well but they sound fuck all like Fallujah. haha so labels aren't necessarily always the best way to describe music at all

@jamespeterson4275
@jamespeterson4275 8 жыл бұрын
They did bring themselves from the previous album. To a different place. In my opinion to a much better place. Unlike seemingly everyone else here I heard potential in the last album (which I loved) to progress to something like this, and I never in a million years thought they would incorporate the beautiful melodic progressions of Dueling Shadows into their "regular" songs and intertie them with their heavy riffs. But they're doing it here. And they were also bold enough to tie a story of separated lovers into a prog death album, as opposed to where you normally hear this trope in pop music. But I feel it's done so tastefully and with so much heart crushing sincerity behind it. I felt like I'd be alone in incorporating that trope with my own music in the "prog death" style, but I don't feel that way anymore. Everything about this has surprised me in the best possible way, perhaps unlike a lot of people who listened to this song. But I agree, I tend to find the first impression of a first few seconds of a song tends to shape my listening through the rest of it as well, no matter how much I try to avoid it. Regardless of whether you support this record or not, for every single person I see that doesn't feel like they want to support this I'm going to try and convince two more people to do so haha. I believe in the potential strength of the compositions on this album so much.
@Abscission
@Abscission 8 жыл бұрын
the last album just felt like boring uninspired Necrophagist worship. shits been done a million times before. I'll give this album A chance but this song just seems meh. but then again the only band I've heard pull off Atmospheric Tech Death well is Mithras so it's kind of a high bar to reach. and with what they've shown from their new album, it's probably gonna blow pretty much every tech album this year aside.

I can't decide if I like it or not. I've been in a mood for straight fucking death metal lately and this doesn't really fill that need. Maybe it's a momentary preference though, because I can definitely hear instrumental mastery in this. I'll listen later, and I'll probably like it more.

@jamespeterson4275
@jamespeterson4275 8 жыл бұрын
Honestly ALL composing is experimenting if you're trying to not sound EXACTLY the same every time if you think about it, voxextremos22. & I am highly sure that it's a coincidence that you were able to sing the Void Alone bridge over one of the sections here. Why? Because I've talked with Joel a some about what his influences are. Never once has he mentioned any bands in particular. The reason they decreased the tempo a bit in their overall sound and focus more on grooves now is so their sound translates better in bigger venues and so they can all feel 100% about playing the songs correctly as opposed to 80%. And they've always had these atmospheric elements in their sound. And Adrianna has a connection with one of the members so it makes sense she was asked to sing on this album. I can't imagine this music without her tbh. Also please see my reply to lucslife11 about using the term "influences" in general... Also so much of the album was already written by last September. I know the Fallujah and Inanimate guys know each other but I doubt it was a direct reason for the change dude.

They don't. There's one song on the record that doesn't feature Adrianna. I think she did a fantastic job personally and if you're looking for a "normal' sounding record you should probably avoid this album anyway. That said this song has some of the most of her vocals of all of them.

Ive managed to hear a few more songs from it seeing them live and they're all hella groovy and atmospheric and balance the pretty with the dark JUST like this in my opinion. So Id say maybe any song would be a good indicator of the shift the band's doing at the very least, even if there is diversity on the record. You can hear some bootlegged recordings of a couple of these songs they chose not to release but played live here on YT

Who are they trying to be???? Themselves. They're not intentionally trying to sound like Fallujah if that's what some people (not necessarily you) think. This is just such a gut reaction comment from another person who at the very least perhaps (not definitively I hate jumping to absolute conclusions) can't empathize with the fact that not all composers of music want to put out the same music over and over and doesn't understand what's going on. Cameron got his girlfriend involved to sing because her voice suits the music Joel and him wrote very well. The whole band didn't want to put out more brutal less melodic music any more, and Joel wanted to slow the tempo of the new songs down a bit so he can perform them more 100% live and they translate through a PA better. Maybe try Infinite Density if this doesn't grow on you, but don't be completely adverse to seeing if it does. ID Might be more up your speed tho. You're also comparing an album to a song. The album isn't even out yet. Unfortunately for you this happens to be a pretty good indicator of much of the rest of the record in this case

That's badass man! I'm glad that you have a diverse listening palette. That's not really what I was getting at though. I was getting at the irony of your comment directly above mine. "Come on man the female vox who are these guys trying to be. Sorry man no disrespect." To me that comes across as a comment that could only be construed as disrespectful to Adrianna and the band and their ability to create original music and then trying to say "sorry no disrespect" after as if that makes it less disrespectful kek.

too many cleans got soft and took a different direction then where they were originally going, not a bad thing but defenitely prefer your other stuff over this. :(

whoa, I love Fallujah, but it seems like theyre influencing a new wave of tech death right now. Between this and Virvum, Im hearing alot of Fallujah- Virvum really only in the lead guitars, but here - it's everywhere.

Female cleans sound like some high school rock challenge crap but the rest was pretty damn good. interested to hear more. Totally not sold on the cleans though.

Don't mind clean vocals, but at least get someone that can actually sing. Whoever she is she's terrible and it killed this.

I think it's just the most goddamn weird thing that extreme metal... (only in the last MERE THREE DECADES mind you out of MILLENNIA of mankind making music) brings a crop of people that call the most predominant method of using the voice as an instrument "crap." Still blows my mind. Also that's insanely disrespectful to Adrianna and the band but you know. I know It's a KZbin comment. It's destructive criticism. Free speech. You can totally say negative stuff, but I can also totally respond to you with this.

+James Peterson after a few listens I change my mind. This isn't the same band I know, but it reminds me of Fallujah, who make the female vocals work. It took me a while to like opeths new stuff, but heritage ended up being a favorite
