Tubod, Lanao Del Norte and Tangub City, Misamis Occidental
September 27, 2024
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the inauguration of the Panguil Bay Bridge Project, the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao connecting the Municipality of Tubod, Lanao del Norte and Tangub City, Misamis Occidental in Northern Mindanao (Region X), on 27 September 2024.
Spanning 3.169 kilometers, the two-way, two-lane Panguil Bay Bridge is a milestone as it marks the realization of two (2) decades of project proposals by Congress, national government agencies, and other partners and stakeholders.
The project will reduce land travel time from Ozamis/Tangub City in Misamis Occidental to Tubod, Lanao del Norte from 2 to 2 ½ hours to only 7 minutes. It will greatly improve the transport systems as it links the coastal areas and facilitates the 24/7 mobility of people, goods and services, stimulating economic and tourism activities in Northern Mindanao.
Costing approximately PhP8 billion, the project is funded through a loan agreement between the Government of the Philippines and the Korean Export-Import Bank (Korea Eximbank).
Construction of the Panguil Bay Bridge began on 28 February 2020 and was completed this month. It is one of the 198 priority infrastructure flagship projects under the Administration’s ‘Build, Better, More’ program.
