Very informative and should help me a lot in my conversion to outboard. Much appreciated again From Australian 😊

Thank you! Unfortunately I have to sell this boat at this point and focus on the next I/O to Outboard conversion project. Bummer that I didnt have enough time to test and find the perfect setup for this boat, but still the results were awesome.

All the conversion videos I've seen include the extra pod that you have to build and stick out the back. What would be wrong with repairing and re-enforcing the transom, and mounting the O/B directly to it (or a jack plate at least)?

I did just that well even move the outboard forward. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHKyi6ymf8-Unsk
@andrewwatson536010 ай бұрын
I guess it depends on the clearance required to tilt the outboard when needed. You could modify the transom to suit but that would require a major rebuild and unless done correctly could compromise the structure.
@stevebirkelund59122 жыл бұрын
Do you have a materials list and cost on this set up?
@BCB-Boats-Media2 жыл бұрын
If I dont calculate the stringer / transom repair then this conversion cost was about 1000€ (without engine and steering). So 1000€ includes making the bracket, engine and bracket installation parts, paints, sealants etc. On top of that new hydraulic steering was 700€, engine was 7500€ and parts/accessories for the engine was 300€. And then I did get some money back when I sold the old engine parts and that volvo-penta drive. Ofcourse this project included several tens of hours of working hours but thats just hobby :) These prices are 1-2years old... at the moment the material costs are almost 40% higher than 2 years ago...

You mention with the conversion the boat becomes a little "unstable", can you explain how so? Im thinking of a bracket conversion of a 32' luhrs with twin V8's. I feel if I pull both motors, the weight of the boat will be off and cause some weird handling

I have a 2003 Larson 230lxi in south Florida and I’m thinking about doing this . It’s a great boat and it deserves an outboard. Had anybody ever seen it done on this type of Larson hull?

Needs a jack plate for the outboard, would love to see the stats with a Sharrow wheel but yeah they are expensive.

I do the similar project at the moment, and have one question. How to access on inside bracket. When mount an engine on bracket how to bolt it if is closed?
@BCB-Boats-Media Жыл бұрын
You have to make hatch on top of the bracket. You can check the other video where I made that bracket. I installed two hatches on top of the bracket.
@dsms4274 Жыл бұрын
@@BCB-Boats-Media thanks a lot. I assume hatch is waterproofed
@BCB-Boats-Media Жыл бұрын
@@dsms4274 Yes. Well it is above the waterline always but still there are waves and rain etc. so it needs to be waterproof.

Hello! what's the benefits from using a "bracket" compared to a "custom transom"? thx
@BCB-Boats-Media Жыл бұрын
Setback for the OB installation is one of the biggest benefits.
@therukugorillazaotearoa_ Жыл бұрын
What did you use to glue the ood to transom ?
@BCB-Boats-Media Жыл бұрын
Sikaflex 291i. Its mainly just for sealing and the bolts hold the bracket.
@ToolManTaylor11 ай бұрын
Did you have any issue with the boat leaning once the conversion was done?
@BCB-Boats-Media11 ай бұрын
I would not say issue but the boat was definitely much more sensitive for lateral sway. The center of gravity rises so much higher. It helps a lot when you move heavy components like batteries as low as possible inside the boat.

Oliko jotain erityistä syytä ettette tehneet suoraan moottorikaivoa?
@BCB-Boats-Media Жыл бұрын

Looks great, the E-Tec engine doesn't have a particularly good name here in the UK, they seem to either be spot on or a complete nightmare, it's a flip of the coin as to what you will get buying one
@Guepard_Marine2 жыл бұрын
Holeshot with 4 blade or 5 blade is always much better than with 3 blade. Much more grip and stern lift. You picked up just wrong prop. Should go with 14 diameter or even 13.5, like I did. Went from 15x15 to 13.5x17 and it’s like a tank now (1981 Sea Ray Sundancer 260). Gets on plane at 16-18 mph in open choppy ocean (about 25kmh - 260hp inboard). Right now I’m shopping for a platform and going to go with 300hp outboard, but it’s 6-12 months waiting list for new engines… 🙈
@BCB-Boats-Media2 жыл бұрын
Well not always ;) If you have too much prop blade surface it will slow your holeshot very much. But ofc that depends on boat/engine setup. And yes I picked up wrong props... I should have tested different props still. Really that long waiting?? ;S Thats rough.
