Chad you must become the Mark Terryberry of CNC Software. We need a Mastercam Tip of The Day

in lathe stock flip mastercam should have a jaw option to allow you to change to a different set of jaws because its very rare that you use the same from op1 to op2

Is there any thoughts about adding some of the functionality into model chamfer? To enable it to use a lollypop, or ballnose like deburr?

Hi, I was trying out multiaxis deburr, and I was trying to get it to output "positional" 3+2 motion. I set the tool axis controll to 3+2, but I still seemed to get multiaxis moves, rather than the expected move xyz, retract, position 2, then move xyz again. Is multiaxis deburr intended for use with a true 3+2 positional machine, where B, and C in my case are only able to be positioned, and not moved during the cut?

Hey Matthew! Generally, when set to 3+2 mode, Multiaxis Deburr will lock to a multiaxis position during a cut, and then reposition. The only exception would be whenever a certain chain cannot possibly be deburred at a locked orientation. The toolpath may need simultaneous motion to avoid a certain obstacle, for example. If you are seeing simultaneous motion on a particular chain, we advise that you 'break up' that selection into multiple chains, giving Deburr a chance to machine a certain edge from multiple 3+2 orientations. If you truly only have 3+2 positional capabilities, multiple Deburr operations locked to 3 axis might best match the exact toolpath motion you're picturing for your machine.

I used this on our 5axis using a 0.02mm cut tolerance - it worked great. Next part I changed the tolerance to 0.01 and now the tool crashes 5mm into the part :(
