Increased migrant influx causes tensions at the EU-Moroccan border in Ceuta | DW News

Tensions remain high on the border between Morocco and the Spanish territory of Ceuta. Over the weekend, Morocco's police clashed with migrants trying to breach the border fence. Hundreds were stopped from entering the territory. The exclave of Ceuta is located across the Gibraltar Strait from Spain's mainland. It has been a major entry point for many migrants trying to get into the European Union.

It is illegal according to international treaties. We already received a fine some time ago and the judge forced the government to readmit those who had been expelled "on the spot" for not complying with the regulations. Even though you catch them red-handed entering. I've recently been to Morocco on vacation, and despite some villages between Marrakesh and the Merzouga desert (which seemed very poor), I felt safe everywhere and at all times, and the country felt healthy. Morocco has everything: from the ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, from the desert to the mountain ranges. The food is fresh and very tasty-one of the best cuisines I've ever tried (and I'm Italian!). If only the Moroccan (and the Africans as well) people lifted themselves up, the country could offer an immense range of opportunities, particularly in the tourism sector, as well as in language teaching (I've been taking lessons in Arabic and Berber before the trip).

We are talking about normal food, typical of my country, but since they, in this case sub-Saharans, are used to eating other things, they considered it inhumane. And given that Morocco is still way behind, we need competent people, but we can't find them because not everybody has the chance to get a good education. This means that uneducated people are trying to leave this situation by migrating to Spain (it's the closest). It's either that or work below minimum wage for the rest of their lives.
