Brilliant, well done. dog and handler are a great team and an inspiration. If trained correctly and kept fit there is no reason why they shouldn't do it at their own pace. My friend has done agility with her mastiffs and dogues, although not competed.

Well done! Fantasic to see a mature mastiff on the go. I feel the excited voice is necessary with mastiffs to urge them on.

Well done. I have a bullmastiff x bull arab and have started dog agility training. I've never seen another mastiff do something like this. You truly are breaking the stereotype, which is great.

Nice to see a giant breed in the agility ring. I'm starting a Great Dane who likes to run. This is an outlet for her. Well done.

that is one high speed mastiff. and yes her incessant noisome encouragement is the only way to keep a mastiff awake.

I have seen my Male Mastiff at 25 months old do things I have never seen any other dogs do. Once you live with them and let them do something beside lay on couch they will surprise most critic. Mastiffs are awesome!

We had an older Mastiff and we had a six month 125 lb. Pup. My G.F. and I took them for a walk for training. I took the older one to wait at the next block. There was a man who was drunk walking his pit bull. The dog got away from him and my GF fell because our pup pulled her. The pit was going for my GF. I have never run so fast. Our pup knocked the pitbull over giving me time to get to her. The mans son had also ran hard and got their dog. Our old Mastiff got right in front of his mom and nothing would get by him.

Very impressive. As a new mastiff owner I did not know they could do that well at this. I do know they are smarter than people give them credit for.

If you are ignorant of the subject matter you should really just keep it in your head. My Mastiffs come from lines that live well into their early teens. A Mastiff is a working dog, it is not a lap dog to show off. They should be able to hold a steady lope for hours on end if they are built right. Though they are not designed for speed, agility is a fantastic sport to keep them young with. I can not wait to start my boy out in it as well as draft dog work!

Oh and by the way if your really honest no mastiff can hold a gate for hours. They are more prone to napping and being one of the best companion/protectors of any breed. They are puppyish for 3 years, adults for 3-4 years and old for 3 years. And they do suffer from leg and joint problems as older dogs.

I love stuff like this, it just goes to show that speed isn't the top priority on an agility course. I see more BCs, Shelties, Aussies getting seriously hurt than anything else for how fast they go with seemingly little regard for safety. I'd pick a dog like this over a speed demon any day. I hope you taught him proper weaves after this, though. I'm surprised you weren't faulted for reaching your hand through the poles like that.

I can understand wanting to have fun with your dog and training them to do this or that in competition, but doing this with a giant breed is like racing a plow horse in the Grand National - too hard on them physically. They aren't designed for it. If you want to do agility, get a breed tailored to it.

It's ok for a younger dog but they do age quickly. If you do have Mastiffs that live to their teens you should write a book because I've not heard of it.10-12 is ancient.

But dogs like high pitched voices. Thats one of the reason that women officers are so often the ones to work in canine units and such. She is doing it on purpose. Don't make fun of shit you don't understand.

What happens at home if he heard a Chihuahua barking in the neighborhood? Would he start navigating round the furniture and jumping over the grout lines in the tile? JK, nice agility and energy for 6 1/2.

Lazy dog. Millinois and doberman are the best in agility stuff.
