I used to show the gifts as part of ' @The Chateau Diaries ' episodes, but you're all so very generous that we have many gifts, and if we spent the episodes opening them, we wouldn't be able to show you other aspects of chateau life! So, for those of you who enjoy watching presents being opened, and as a way to thank those of you who were kind enough to send them, I've made this new channel. Every week we will film your beautiful gifts whilst enjoying afternoon tea or aperitif together.
It is very important to me that you know that we in no way expect anyone to send us gifts. I would like to go further than that and add that, if doing so will put you in any financial difficulty whatsoever, please, please do not send us anything. Knowing that you join us by watching 'The Chateau Diaries' gives us all an enormous boost. But for those of you who have sent these incredibly thoughtful gifts, I hope that seeing us open them gives you a fraction of the joy that you've given us 💖💖💖
If you would like to see more of our life at the chateau, please go to our main 'Chateau Diaries' channel:

A gorgeous painting with some lovely amusing vignettes. I do hope your health improves and you do indeed get to La Lande. Today I received some bad health news also autoimmune. My mobility is going to severely impacked and my travelling days are over. Dreams of going back to France are going to sadly remain just that, dreams. Thank God for Stephanie bringing a slice of French life to us twice a week. She kept me sane thru the Pandemic and now she will keep me in touch with my much loved France. With the kindest of wishes to you and your improving health, from Neil in Australia 🇦🇺

Oh... My... GOD!!!! This Video actually taught me something! One of the things my late grandmother collected was teacups and after she passed in 2012 her 7 children got to pick 3 or 4 teacups each and her 11 grandchildren got to pick a teacup they wanted from what remained. I picked a beautiful blue white and gold teacup with saucer, I knew it was really high quality but all I knew was it was "Made in USSR" as stamped on the bottom and now I know what it actually is. Thank you for bringing back fond memories of Grandma Rosemary. ❤❤❤

The cobalt net was designed after the blockade of Leningrad, now St.Petersburgh, it represents the crisscrossed tape marks on the windows of the city (to mute the light coming from them and thus prevent air bombing). The artist Anna Yatskevich first designed this pattern in gold, but very soon replaced it with cobalt blue which then became the symbol of the factory that it has been to this day. She lost both her mother and sister in that war and never saw the real success that her creation became. She died in 1952 and the international porcelain exhibition in Brussels where The Cobalt Net was appreciated to the world glory happened 6 years later.

A Rebozo is not just worn as a shawl. Mexican women use it to carry their babies on their backs as well as other things like heavy loads. The traditional Midwives use Rebozos during labour to help reposition the fetus in the womb with sifting and other movements.

Wallace Silversmith was originally situated in my home town of Wallingford, Connecticut. This area of Connecticut was well know for its many silver manufacturers. It was just a short walk from my home. Over the years, as sterling and silver plate fell out of favor, the silver and silver plate was then manufactured in China. I have fond memories as a child, walking to meet my neighbor when she was finished with work, and walking home with her. The buildings and the memories remain, but the silver is long gone.

Wow, that Russian teapot matches my set of two cups with saucers and little cake plates! My dad bought it for my maternal grandparents in Nikel or Murmansk back when I was perhaps not even a baby, and since I always loved them so much, it was not surprising to see that my grandmother had taped my name underneath them, the way she did with everything she cared who inherited. I still have them in almost pristine condition (some wear on the handles, made in USSR and different numbers under the matching cups, one is red 14, and the other is green 5 AND a light green 2! I just had to do a reverse image search, and as far as I can tell, they are the real deal, as could be expected when knowing the history of how hard it was to go from Norway to the then USSR back in the late 60's or early 70's, and that all I know for sure that he brought back was this set of the two cobolt net teacups and one set of two of another pattern that I always found too garish (if I remember correctly it had large fields of black, and smaller fields of orange or something like that, gilded around the edges).
