I seriously considered buying such a vehicle when looking for a way to travel without polluting. I had bought an electric bike previously but I feel really unsafe on a bike, and am in fear of punctures that could leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere. However these amazing bicycle cars are so expensive that a 'real' second hand car with all its comfort, safety and availability of parts is nearly half the price. I understand the people creating these appealing machines need money for research and production but I am just not rich enough to support them, to my great regret. Because I am elderly, I would go for the Friskar or the Veemo3 as they are completely enclosed, but I would have to try them first to check if I am able to handle them. A dream.

As amazing as the Kinner Bicycle Car looks, $15,000 is way over priced. You can buy so many other things for half or 1/4 of that price.
@k1ng4012 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Very few features for that price and it’s a bike you can only ride comfortably in fine weather
@scottmcelhiney3232 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but the same argument can be used against top of the line classic road bikes... you can easily spend $8-15K on a custom road bike designed for competition and the trade off is low weight for reliability and no cargo capacity. Here we have companies trading off weight and cost for something that is highly usable under more situations... not just a sunny day going to go workout or race vehicle. I've converted a bunch of bikes and trikes to electric assist and since I did it myself, I could get ridiculous with the power and range levels. At 52v with a 20Ah battery, I can get about 35 miles range at about 30 mph. I've got multiple batteries so if I really want to head out for a long fast ride, I can still get home with power to spare... in comfort, with cargo.

If the Podbike had space for two people it would be my option as I would like an ebike full closed and for two people. The same goes for Veemo, would like one for two people. But unfortunately the full closed version is discontinued. I would need something closed and secure as here where I live it can be stolen easily without any security. Never had a car or be attracted to the idea of have one, and with the high maintainance prize of them I feel less attracted. When I knew the existence of velomobiles I started to dream of the idea of having one, as I don't need more than what they can offer, and are more practical in some way.

So, Bio-Hybrid has gone bankrupt. To no surprise, I'm sorry to say. Most of these just look like more complicated e-bikes and take up more space than them too. Sure, it's cool to have a roof and a little more storage-space in the vehicle itself but these are comforts you can have on an e-bike for a lower price too. A normal leg-powered bicycle does the same for an even lower price, and it gives you more of a workout. While I'd love to see these replace cars entirely, as it stands now I feel it's more worthwhile to spend money on a better bicycle and some accessories. But I'm more than happy with my bike and a backpack, no car or battery needed here.

Sure, but a lot of people don't feel comfortable on two wheels, especially older folks and/or people with back pain. Also, these bikes are lower to the ground so the skill level required to operate safely is significantly less.
