Lithium used to be prescribed as an antidepressant. One of its biggest side effects was a total indifference to your surroundings. Creativity....along with everything else that defined an individual, was suppressed. In context, this song makes perfect sense from the perspective of someone on Lithium. My mom struggled with Bipolar Disorder for years and spent a lot of time on Lithium.

Amy Lee's voice washes over you like an ocean wave - beautiful & a little frightening at the same time. She truly is a dark angel that has stepped out of a gothic novel. Have y'all listened to her song "My Immortal" yet? I'd also suggest her collaboration with the band Seether -"Broken". For two other incredible, uniquely angelic female voices, I would suggest Loreena McKennitt ("Dante's Prayer", "The Mummer's Dance", "The Old Ways", "The Highwayman") & Maria Franz of Heilung (In Maidjen", "Anoana", "Kriegsgaldr", Norupo").

Broken is an epic song!

I once described her as sounding like a fallen angel - still with the angelic, soaring voice, but backed by the heavy drums and harshly distorted guitar. A combination that I would never have thought could work, but now I can't imagine her singing to any other backing. 👍

Yeah it's crazy how they always claim that they "love" her voice every time they actually listen to one of her songs but it always takes ages for them to react to another. That doesn't make any sense. I know stuff happens and they react to other bands but if they really did "love" her and the band then wouldn't they make sure to add her and listen to her more often? I'm just confused at that part but yeah they should definitely react to Break In. But since he forgot about Amy and Lzzy then it probably won't happen for another 10,000 years. Again I don't mean any hate but it's kinda really annoying. Especially as a Amy stan and fan and admirer. She deserves more respect. 🤘🤘

@Steven Clark There is a group of female vocalists on the top rung of greatness. Anne Wilson, Karen Carpenter, Floor Jansen, the ones you named are all on there. At that point, it comes down to personal preference. I put Amy #1 because of the combination of her music, deep meaning of her lyrics, she can sing while playing would class piano, and she is so likable. She checks off more boxes than other singers IMO. Who would you put on top of your list?

Evanescence is one of my favorite Metal bands, especially female led Metal bands. You mentioned Lzzy Hale and I thought of another great Female Friday song because it celebrates women. It's from a Mongolian Rock band called The HU. They specialize in Mongolian Throat Singing. Lzzy Hale sings with them in a song called "Song Of Women".
