Everything Chris wrote had deep meaning

This was a song about death and the hope for an afterlife where “If we’re good, we’re laid to rest anywhere we want to go”. The “…book full of death” was the Bible. Jesus said “I go to my Father’s house “ and that he would “prepare a room” for (us)…that’s the house where “…room by room, patiently” Chris was singing about waiting in. There’s a story (true or not I don’t know) that a record executive loved the song but thought it was a love song. Chris had to tell him “No, it’s about death”
