Its funny how many confuse "SRAM's strongest Brakes" with "The worlds strongest brakes" - would love to see a comparison to Trickstuff Maxima and Intend-Trinity.

Thankfully I see you can also get the caliper in the same nice silver as the lever housing which looks way better. The messy red scractched finish doesnt do the product justice and doesnt seem to match. Looking forward to trying some! Solid video too as always!

A nod to EVH with that paint scheme? I was a never sram brake guy. Mavens look the bidness tho. Really hoping you get a pinion mgu bike soon. Surprised no one had started a thread . I went on a search just yesterday. Im sure youre trying. Good luck👊

I would take modulation and control over brute power, its not as if any of the 4 piston setup's out there are lacking stopping power when used correctly. Also, surprised they are not using 1x pad/piston on the caliper to help with deflection to get the ultimate "bite," possibly to make bleeding easier. A lot of the other reviews of these maven's describe the lever feel as quite binary and/or fatiguing, making me think they don't have the MCCaliper piston ratio's correct; or it could just be that they have so much mass it fatigues the rider, either way I see aftermarket levers in the near future to help. The one thing I do like quite a bit, is that they offer a full complete kit with rotors, mounts, pads, bleed kit, along with a PAIR of brakes in one box, other's need to take notice, only downside it's only for these 2500 limited red sets....

I rode the Tech 4 V4 for a couple of rides and was disappointed by their power to be honest. I went back to my Intend Trinity and was shocked at how much power they create. The almost match my Trickstuff Maxima. You use the word "powerful" a lot. You would be amazed by the Trinities or the Maxima.

Would love to try either of them

You should check out my upcoming video then. I have now ridden all the top "powerful" brakes on the market and will get the chance to ride the Maven too. I'll share my insights. So far, the Trinity has been stronger than anything but the Maxima.@@RobRidesEMTB

Is that a cube one55 in the background i see? Cant wait to see their one44 SLT bike as well, 16.2kg for a bosch SX system bike is crazy, ~2kg lighter than most other brands have managed so far. Hopefully cube can get one to you. I have a 2024 fluid VLT c1 on order due here for late may, bosch seems to keep just taking more and more market from shimano. PS, a little birdy told me Meridas next generation of ebikes also switching to bosch.

@RobRidesEMTB nice, I hope you go into detail about what peddling above the motor cut off is like with the sx, I haven't been any reviews that actually talk about it in detail. And it's currently my biggest gripes with ebikes.

@RobRidesEMTB As someone who has always switched their brakes away from sram to shimano due to the feel and easier to service being mineral oil, would you say this is srams version of a shimano brake? does it have the same feel as a shimano?.

Sorry to question your video, but you say that the Hope tec 4 completely failed on one steep downhill run. I find that hard to believe. They are as you say a very capable brake, can’t see them completely failing after one run.
@siriosstar47895 ай бұрын
yeah, i thought that to be a bit of an extreme statement also .
@RobRidesEMTB5 ай бұрын
Yes they did, completely overheated the front and rear on the purple pads to the point I lost all braking power. It’s a seriously open fast steep hill, once you get a big ebike to 40mph+ on a long hill with a 45% gradient (which is incredibly steep) it really will test any setup. My mate was following me and wondered why I bailed into the bushes - it was the only way I could stop.
@alhypo5 ай бұрын
Actually, going from 180mm to 220mm should boost power by nearly 30%, not 28%. Each 20mm jump increases the percentage by 14%... but that should be compounded. So the jump from 200 to 220 includes a 14% increase on the boost you got from the 180 to 200mm increase. Mathematically, if you just say you have braking power = 1 at 180mm, then you can calculate your total power increase from each 20mm rotor increase as: P(n) = (1.14)^n In this specific case: P(2) = (1.14)^2 = 1.14 * 1.14 = 1.2996 Which means you get a 29.96% boost from a 180 to 220mm increase.
