The Vermeer Trencher is for emplacements that are sturdy and swiftly embedded. It isnt a "roadside" built bit of tech, and it has been around longer than you can imagine. They found archaeological examples around the world.

I've seen some of those smart speedbumps in action, and yes they do. They do know how to exclude emergency vehicles.

That elevated cycling system would be great for adding bicycle bridges to existing bridges!

This kind of repair road bridge is nothing new. We have that already since 25 years and call it fly-over in Vienna.

Robotic refuelling? No thanks, I’d much rather get out my car for 2 minutes in the cold or rain than let a robot do it for me.

Robot fuel pumps because of bad weather? Why not just build better enclosures for the vehicle? Fans to suck out fumes, and doors or baffles to block the wind. Much cheaper and simpler, I'd think.

The height-warning laser is a nice idea, but the 11-foot-8 (plus 8) bridge of internet fame has height sensors, clatterboard signs (chained signs over the road saying 'if you hit this sign, you will hit that bridge!'), flashing lights, and a final warning saying 'overheight must turn!' And that bridge is still destroying large vehicles' tops on a very regular basis. TLDR it's not likely to help.

None of these ideas are practical. If a driver is is busy with their cell phone, or simply don't care, all these ideas won't make any difference! There are drivers out there whose only thought is for themselves; anything that inconveniences them, even slightly, will trigger them to road rage, or other dangerous behaviors. Then there's the matter of drunk drivers, those drivers that are under the influence of drugs, and of course, criminals. Not to mention that a lot of these ideas will be expensive to implement. So, cities will not buy this. Plus, electric vehicles are still not perfected. The idea of recharging buses from ground based tech will be problematic, at best, unreliable at worst. Also, areas prone to heavy rain or other severe weather will be a problem as well. No, none of these will work.
