A very relaxing video about Spinner Dolphins in the Red Sea. Very relaxing film with close encounters and intimate portraits of Spinner Dolphins. Everything was filmed in freediving.

I was on Kauai overlooking the ocean off a cliff when a pod of spinners came closer and closer, playing and putting on the most spectacular show! I felt compelled to join them. I ran as fast as I could and grabbed a snorkel and mask and swam as fast as I could out into the open ocean. I reached the dolphins and they just checked me out and continued their playing!!! My boyfriend and I just enjoyed the beautiful pod of dolphins, the most magnificent and intelligent creatures I have ever had the blessing to be near, treading water and laughing and even crying tears of joy seeing this display for over an hour. Then very suddenly they disappeared!!! It happened so fast it was like I blinked and they were gone and suddenly we realized we were in deep open ocean nearing sunset. I went from feeling safe and overjoyed to booking it back to shore as quickly as possible. There was not a single fish or anything in sight until we got much closer to shore, about a 10 minute swim or so. I will never forget that day. Of the 3 years I lived on the islands, that hour was the most miraculous not only of those years, but of my life. The dolphins would swim so close as I reached out my hand, but they would stay just millimeters out of reach, looking right at me, and then do an incredible tail whip to fly out of the water spinning and diving back in swimming around in powerful beautiful formations and coming back like look at what I can do! Do you like it? Also, there were 3 or 4 juvenile dolphins who had a long piece of thick seaweed and were playing a game of keep away. One would let it float in the water and taunt the others, then all of them would race to get it, only one being able to win and take the seaweed on their fin, swimming all around, weaving in and out of the pod, another one coming and swiping it away with their fin!!! I was like kids playing. At one point one of them almost knocked right into the slower more elderly dolphin couple who had been sticking to each others side the entire time, and momma dolphin left formation of mom-baby-dad to come and spank the dolphin! She tail whacked him right on the nose so hard you could hear it thwack under the water! He swam away timidly and they stopped their game, the seaweed slowly drifted away to the seafloor. But within just a few minutes, just like kids do, they were chasing and spinning and doing tricks again. Within that hour it was easy to spot the different family members, the dads, the moms, the gran and gramps, the teens and the cutest baby I have ever seen. Dolphins should be protected at all cost.

This is absolutely incredible footage! Would love to hear more about backstory of how you found this pod. Did they let you in right away? Such amazing creatures. Captured perfectly!!!

I am doing a not for profit video to support the plight of the Taiji dolphins in Japan and was wondering if I could use a couple of minutes of your excellent dolphin video at the beginning with an acknowledgment to yourself and your You Tube page?

Hello Didier Noirot, First, what fantastic footage you captured and I thank you for sharing it. By far the best dolphin footage on youtube and an absolute pleasure to watch. I have recently made a sculpture of a spinner dolphin and used your footage extensively for reference. I would like to ask, provided that due credit is given, could I use a few pieces of your footage as part of the making of video for the sculpture? Sincerely,

I'm not saying the music for this video is bad. However! Should listen to Mody's song "Living" with this video. It really goes hand and hand. If you play the song and this video around the same time it'll go together well. See for yourself. Song is about as long as this video.
