The reason the humidity in the incubator is lower than the room it’s in is because there isn’t as much air exchange inside the incubator. The air is being heated and blowing around with the fan so it’s drying out the ambient humidity inside the incubator. Same as having forced hot air in your house, the hot dry air dries everything up even though outside can be 100% humidity and raining. Hth explain the humidity. I also think that adding water to raise humidity during lockdown will help. 😊

I have not done the dry hatch method. We live in southeast Missouri hatched 16 out of17 chicken eggs. Not all is lost i did learn from your adventure. . So sorry for all your loss.

I threw a bunch of chicken eggs in with a couple of turkey eggs all together at the same time, praying that it works 😃. I’ve done this with ducks and chickens in the past and had good results. I just take the chicks out and wait for the others to hatch.

I'm incubating turkey, chicken, and quail all at the same time 😆....I always incubate chicken and quail eggs together, the turkey eggs are new. I'm hoping to get 10 new royal palm turkeys from my next 2 hatches...

Hey thanks for watching and commenting I knew it could be done I’m just not sure what happen with that last batch there was a lot of death but I can tell you that I successfully hatched some turkeys currently I’ll be posting another video shortly. I like the looks of the Royal Palm Turkeys I have Kentucky bourbon and blue slates

@@ozarkshomesteadandfarm oh man I want blue slates soooo bad! I have a turkey guy here in N.C that has narregansetts ,he's saving me some of them eggs and I'm excited about that...I'm hoping to have blue slates before it gets cold again, those birds are beautiful. I hatched quail eggs in my old basement when I lived in the city, but if was a heated and finishes basement that you could live in so there wasn't any fluctuations going on...I'm going to try the dry run on my next hatch to see how I do myself.

that's not a chigger. those are ticks. you can't see a chigger. also i've known several people do egg incubation in basements in the ozarks and have had poor results. once moved out of the basement their hatch rate went up. don't know why. hope this helps.

Yeah the Cornish giants aren't sustainable. Can't really argue with a 10lb bird at 10 weeks though. Going to keep getting those while they're available. I am looking for a mest bird that i can actually hatch out myself

I was thinking of trying American bresse, they grow relatively quickly and are pretty meaty for a heritage breed, look them up!

@@ozarkshomesteadandfarm well, thet look like a great bird for the homestead. Especially if you plan to sell some of them for meat. My only concern with the roosters is the hugw comb since i live in northern Canada

@@ozarkshomesteadandfarm could be worse. I could live in southern Canada... It's a conservative stronghold. We told southern bc to piss off during covid and the woke cultists have no power here. The weather sucks but the freedoms are worth it right now. All of my rooaters lost their combs last winter so thats the reason for concern. The Hens didnt loose them for some reason. Heating was adequate for the hens so not sure why the roosters didnt do as well.
