Being a drummer, I've learned a lot from him and his drumming over the years. I'm a self learner and when I started playing drums more seriously, Jose was one of the ones I studied. Love their music!

You don't just drum. You compose! That's what always sets Incubus apart from other bands. Each band member writes their parts with such care and intentional detail. You each do what is best for the song. You know when to hold back and you know when to show off but none of you are ever noodling or sloppy or doing something out of place. Every sound and note and drum hit has a purpose and fits exactly where it is meant to. And your drum parts are so memorable and tasteful. Especially in this song. For example: the open hihat kick accents in the chorus. Those didn't need to be there but they are and they add so much flavor. This is my favorite track that you drum on because you throw in so many nuances and little details that add so much to the song. This also one of my favourite guitar solos Mike ever wrote. And the way you accent the guitar with the drums during the solo is so perfect 👌 you aren't competing or overpowering his solo. Just accenting it. That's so important.

I love these because it allows someone like me who isn't musically inclined to be able to hear all the little bits and bobs of the drumming. Which then changes how the song sounds after understanding what the drums sound like. Wish everyone in the band did these.

Mike WAS doing guitar lessons for SCIENCE, but stopped for some reason after Vitamin. At least it helped me finally pin down parts of Redefine! Joses videos are definitely helping me hear some songs more deeply as well!

Jose's home performance are THE BEST thing to come from Covid. He's my favorite drummer, and I love to play along to Incubus at home. Seeing how truly intricate the songs are played by the master himself is priceless. Thanks Jose! Think I'm gonna go buy another one of his t-shirts now...gotta add to the collection!

I could say and have said he has always been overlooked. My favorite. But I think everyone knows he's great and there is a great deal of silent respect for him. I'd like to see it different from other drummers mouths but definitely at the top of the list. Jose is a genius at percussion. Ive Always paid attention to him to learn from his drumming techs
