The G train has 6 r46 cars back then. I use to ride the r46 F train to Coney island. The F and G was full with r46. Thank you for this video.

I'm trying to understand the Queens Blvd car assignments from that time more. I remember around 2000 the whole F and G were R46, and the E was mostly R32 but also had some R46 (that may have been a weekend thing, I was little at the time so I didn't take the subway much during the week). Then when the V train started, that was predominantly R46 but now the F also had some R32s. I don't get where those came from though. And R46 stopped running on the E shortly after (I know they were inefficient on that line because of 32 doors vs 40), but by that point I think Jamaica had more R32s since they had been displaced from CI as part of the complex move when the R143 started. I know the R was almost entirely R46 with the occasional R32 during rush hour.

Back.when the G had six instead of four cars. I wondered why they reduced it to four.

The introduction of the V train lead to trains being shortened to make extra trains for the G route to compensate for service changes.

@@jred9864 Subway car shortages and shifts in demand have made this impossible. Arrival of new cars should mitigate this, though adding more trains can benefit passengers more.

Current and future ridership changes do not warrant 6-car trains at this time. However, extra 4-car trains can suffice.

@Im a Train Fanatic is back Yes, for many years it was like that, it even had overnight service to Jamaica/179 at one point after the R was cut back to Forest Hills/71 from Jamaica/179 and that was when the F turned around at 57/6th if I'm rightly correct, yeah the G went to Forest Hills/71 weekdays and Queens Plaza on weekends in the 90s!!
