What's with the R142A on the Fulton St Line?

The MTA is testing the new Metroflexx braking system on that R142A set. Sometimes it goes back and forth on the (A) line, getting stored at Pitkin Yard. But since they can fit, they can still make their way onto the A Division, somehow.

You know when the R262 come into service I heard that some R142s will be scrapped and considering the R142As can handle cbtc which means they’ll be converted into R188s, I feel like they will stay on Lexington while the R142s go to the 1 and 3 lines.

The remaining R142s and R14/As will get CBTC once the R62s are gone. Most of the R160s have CBTC now

@@frankscalera7076 well considering they’re are more R142s than R142As it will make sense that they go to the 7th ave line and the R142As stay for cbtc (R188).

The R142s are not getting scrapped in no time. However The damage R142s that was caught on fire 🔥 in 2020 110 street that's is definitely in the concourse yard with the R46S that is also damaged is definitely getting scrapped.
