अब तो यह स्थिति हो गई है कि हम भारत में भी स्पिन नहीं खेल पा रहे हैं l 1992- 93 में ऑस्ट्रेलिया के स्पिनर टीम मे ने 9 रन देकर 5 विकेट लिए थे l 2004- 5 में पार्ट टाइम स्पिनर माइकल क्लार्क ने 9 रन देकर 6 विकेट लिए थे l 2020-21 में जो रूट ने 8 रन देकर 5 विकेट लिए थे। एजाज पटेल ने पिछले दौरे पर एक ही पारी में भारत के खिलाफ सभी 10 विकेट लिए थे। ऑस्ट्रेलियाई स्पिनर ऑलीपॉप भारत में पदार्पण टेस्ट खेल कर तहलका मचा सकता है। वर्तमान दौरे पर न्यूजीलैंड की ओर से यंग और फिलिप्स ने भी भारतीय बल्लेबाजों को नचा कर रख दिया। पिछले 10 साल का रिकॉर्ड देख लो विदेशी स्पिनर के आगे भारतीय बल्लेबाजों ने कई बार घुटने टेके हैं। लगता है हमारे बल्लेबाज भारत में स्पिन खेलने की कला तथा विदेशो में तेज गेंदबाजी खेलने की कला भूल चूके हैं। तो फिर हमारे लिए जीत की गुंजाइश कहां पर बची है?

एक लंबे समय से ये देखने को मिल रहा है कि कोई भी टेस्ट मैच 5 दिन तो क्या 4 दिन तो क्या 3 दिन में ही खत्म हो जा रहे हैं। बल्कि ज्यादातर टेस्ट मैच तो ढाई दिन के अंदर ही खत्म हो जा रहे हैं। बल्लेबाजों के अंदर धैर्य की कमी साफ नजर आती है। आज कोई बल्लेबाज भी लंबी पारी नहीं खेल रहा ,कोई भी क्रीज पर लंबा नहीं टिक रहा। टेस्ट मैच का आनंद जानने वाले और टेस्ट मैच को समझने वाले लोगों के लिए यह चिंता का विषय है । लेकिन देश में आईपीएल जैसे टूर्नामेंट जिसने टेस्ट तो क्या वनडे क्रिकेट पर भी ग्रहण लगा दिया है , जो खिलाड़ी आईपीएल बिग बैश,बीपीएल, सीपीएल , पीसीएल, खेलते हैं उनके लिए टेस्ट मैच में 5 दिन काटना एक पहाड़ जैसा हो रहा है इसलिए शायद ये लोग जल्दी-जल्दी टेस्ट मैच खत्म करके फ्री होना चाहते हैं । लेकिन जो भी हो रहा है क्रिकेट के लिए ठीक नहीं हो रहा है। इस इस पर क्रिकेट के बुद्धिजीवियों और वरिष्ठ खेल पत्रकारों को बात करनी चाहिए।।
