"Three long and two short" blasts is a "Master's Salute" As a point of trivia, most of the ships horns you hear are courtesy of the American based "Leslie Horn Co." They used to make speaker systems for musical equipment as well. The famous "Leslie Rotating Speaker" was one product still very much in demand.
