*[Story Explanation]* _[Edit 07/30/2022, This has been edited to add additional information provided in the comments! Thanks guys!! Also: This is an independent animation MV, so it is not from an anime. However, it seems that there will be additional content from this channel later this year!]_ Let's start by naming the characters: Past!Akane is the woman with long white hair and red eyes. Future!Akane has brown hair and maroon eyes. Past!Haru is the boy with blue hair and blue eyes and has a scar on his face.Future!Haru looks identical to Past!Haru except he doesn't have a scar.. At 2:40 you can see 2 other characters that we see at the very beginning, a brown-haired woman with green eyes (we'll call her Rio temporarily, I don't know both of these two names) and a blue-haired woman with blue eyes (we'll call her Shion temporarily). From the description, Past!Akane, Rio, and Shion are witches. *[TL;DR: Rio steals orphaned Past!Haru's soul to try and heal Shion because Shion is missing her soul. Past!Akane finds Past!Haru and shares her soul with him. She takes him in and raises him. Haru is very grateful for all the new experiences and warmth Akane teaches him as he was treated poorly until Akane saved him. One day, Rio passes by Haru and recognizes him, she is upset because he is still alive and Shion died (Rio is mourning Shion with black roses). Haru eventually collapses in pain and is dying. It can be implied that Rio intentionally harms Haru and Akane is unable to save Haru, both of them die as Akane begins to turn into a sakura tree for using her powers. Akane makes one last spell to reincarnate, the lyrics saying that if they don't even want magic if they can still stay together. In a new, ordinary world without magic, a black cat guides Future!Akane to Haru and she revives him. Haru recognizes Akane when she twirls her hair, a habit that Past!Akane has done, and they are finally reunited with red string around Future!Akane's wrist representing the connection between their soul. Overall, the whole song is about the profound bond between Haru and Akane that is so great that it is even able to travel through time and worlds. ]* At the beginning 0:26, we see Rio looking over a machine with Shion in it, Shion is unconscious and seems to be missing the hourglass in her body. It seems that in this world, the hourglass is needed to live. It might be the soul, internal mana, or lifeforce, etc. At 0:32, google translating this writing says " With the chain that connects the soul and the body, I must save you. If someone's life can save you, I-" In the next scene at 0:41, we see Past!Haru being thrown out a door and Rio steals his 'soul' in attempt to heal Shion, leaving his body empty. Maybe Past!Haru was kicked out from his family or he was kicked out from an orphanage? When Rio steals his soul, he's essentially 'dead'. Past!Akane comes along the boy and decides to save him by sharing her soul with him. She says to him "It's okay now," when he wakes up. From there, we start to learn about Past!Haru and we see Past!Akane taking Past!Haru under her wing. She bathes him, feeds him, clothes him and teaches him about the world. Past!Haru seems to have had a difficult life and treated poorly until then, you can see marks on his body at 1:17 either dirt or bruises. Notice that he also has a large scar going across half his face. It is implied that he experiences all these new things and kindness for the first time and he's become overwhelmed by emotions and cries at 1:23. -Unfortunately, I can't read the card at --2:15--. It looks like it has some context clues but Google translate cannot read the full message. Anyway, it looks like Past!Akane could use magic or even studied alchemy.- Courtesey of koimaxx/こすケロ, starting at 2:13, you can see these jewel-like crystals, Past!Akane writing a card and an owl carrying a package. The card message says:「〇〇〇〇○〇〇服用してください。一日も早い回復お祈りしています。」(○ is the part hidden by the hand.) It roughly means "... please take some medicine. Praying for a speedy recovery". This implies that Past!Akane was a doctor of sorts and prescribes medicine to the citizens below their floating island. This could be a reason why Past!Akane felt the need to help Past!Haru. At 2:38 -the lyrics say "I've forgotten how I used to tremble. Now I find your kindness hot and a little disturbing." I think this means as Past!Haru grew up, he developed a crush on Past!Akane. You see him cooking for her and blushing when she compliments it. You can also see him have some roses (symbols of love).- The lyrics say 今は暑苦しいくらいだ >English translation is "Now I find your kindness hot and a little disturbing" I think I misinterpreted this line, my apologies. I think it actually means that Haru is not used to to such kindness from someone, so he is uncomfortable at first to any kind of feelings of love. Courtesy of ルナマリィ, the flowers are actually 2 red carnations. Red carnations symbolize love and are a common gift to mothers in Japan. [Edit: I do agree now that these flowers are carnations, however I feel this extra bit can still fit! From こすケロ, the crimson roses that Haru wanted to give are not "a few" but exactly "two"! I looked up the meaning of this number of roses and found that two roses means "only you and me in the world". ] At that same time at 2:59, we see Rio, the woman who stole his soul earlier around 0:41. She holds black roses (symbolizing death/mourning) and grimaces. There are a few things to point out here. First, I think she recognizes him. I think she is vexed that he is living happily because the soul transfer failed or did not work that well and Shion died. She passes by Past!Haru at 3:09 and cuts him with the black roses(?). [Edit: Courtesy of Leine, two lines of lyrics are important here. ずっとずっと続くはずだった (Life was supposed to be normal for a long time to come) and 残酷に魔法がとけてく (The magic melts cruelly), this can imply that Rio did indeed use magic to disrupt Haru's soul.] We see Past!Haru grip at his heart or his 'soul' and fall down in pain. Past!Akane tries to help him, but we see the hourglass is cracked and running out of sand. From the lyrics, both or one of them are basically saying: "I don't need any magic if I still have you." Both of them die as Past!Akane casts one last spell. -There's two theories I have about what happened here: - The first is that Rio cut Past!Haru on purpose and injured his soul, which is why Past!Akane could not heal it. - The second is that time has just run out, there is not enough of Past!Akane's soul to heal his. She ends up pushing herself too far. The soul transfer is causing her body to turn into a sakura tree.- It is implied that Rio injured Past!Haru's hand to disrupt his soul and Past!Akane pushes herself too far in trying to heal Past!Haru. This causes Past!Akane's body to turn into a sakura tree. In the next part, you can see Future!Akane, who is in an ordinary world without magic, meets a cat (who looks a lot like the cat Past!Haru is holding at 2:41). The cat leaks Future!Akane to a secret wall where she finds Past!Haru's skeleton in a stone casket and reads a card causing Future!Haru to come back. Notice that Haru does not have a scar here, either the magic completely renewed his body or perhaps he is just the current world's Haru. At 4:59 Future!Akane twirls her hair just like many other times Past!Akane has done as a habit, this causes Future!Haru to recognize her. At 5:43, a red twisted string bracelet that Future!Akane is wearing breaks. A red string often symbolizes the connection of two people, or their souls. If I take some liberties theorizing, the rope could also be like a shimenawa religious rope (meant to serve as a boundary for sacred places and to ward off evil spirits) and it breaks to symbolize the breaking/connecting of two different spaces (magic world and ordinary world) as the place they are in seems to connect the magic world and Future!Akane's and Future!Haru's world. The surrounding area also has wisteria trees which are a symbol of longevity. At 6:54 we see childhood photos of the two. I think that past Akane and Haru reincarnated into a different world without magic after Akane casted her last spell. Whether the scene from 4:17-6:04 actually happened, I don't know. :) Additional note: I think the flower on the 3 girls' head and the one in Haru's skull (red flower with yellow middle) might be red camellias which symbolize love.

Also in 1:39 we can see that Past!Akane has a scar in her left eye. It may have been caused by Rio when they quarrelled and parted ways. What confuses me is, if Past!Akane has the skill to share her hourglass, or to incorporate hourglasses, why did she not share the knowledge to Rio? Because we can clearly see that Rio has the ability to steal others' hourglasses but apparently does not know how to incorporate them in bodies, as we know that Shio has died. It doesn't make sense that Past!Akane shared her hourglass with a complete stranger but not with a friend right? Just my two cents but I would love it if we were given more backstory on Past!Akane's past story with Rio and Shio.

Is this just someone's animation or is there a sauce for this?
This was like watching a 12 episode anime within 7 minutes. The story telling went great, the music which accompanied was to the point(guess from the lyrics, i dont know japanese). It just told a beautiful story of how strong Haru's love was for Akane, that it shattered the bonds of time. I actually want a full fledged anime now on this. Oh and did I forget to mention? The animations if fabulous. Solid 10/10 ont his video.

The world building here is just amazing. You all are incredibly skilled. I love how you snuck different clues that were hidden in plain sight but that I only noticed when I rewatched it multiple times. Down below I have written a summary of my theories of the film. *Spoilers!* *Index to identify people* Dark blue hair - Haru White hair - Akane Golden-green eye/Brown hair Light blue hair - The one with her hourglass missing, in the machine at 0:24 Red eye/Brown hair - PresentAkane *(The Summary)* As shown in 0:26, Golden eye has a rather sad expression as she checks up on Blue eye. At 0:32 is what is believed to be one of Golden eye's, I managed to use translation services, it's perhaps not the most accurate but here it is, "With the chain that connects the soul and the body, I must save you. if someone's life can save you, I-" It cuts off at "I" but it seems clear that Golden eye took Haru's hourglass to save Blue eye. In this world, it seems that hourglasses represent the life source that could be manipulated with magic. Golden eye hears that someone (White hair) is coming and escapes at 0:54. White hair finds Haru (basically dead) and produces half of her hourglass at 0:59, giving it to Haru and saves his life. She also adopts him and raises him, this seems to be the first time that Haru has been treated with so much care and love, and he develops a crush on her At 1:39, White hair uses magic to create a bunch of glowing butterflies. This could have several meanings. Butterflies in Japanese culture are associated with the themes of death and rebirth, which White hair may be foreshadowing her and Blue hair's death in the butterfly scene but also suggest their rebirth. The butterflies are also believed to be the souls/spirit of the dead as they go through their journey to the afterlife. Also, the pink moon (only appearing during spring) in 1:33 which also means rebirth and renewal as well as a symbol of the soul. Very fitting that Haru is revived during spring time. Golden eye and Haru pass by each other in the market (2:38) and Golden eye recognizes Haru as the boy she thought was dead. Golden-green eye holds a bouquet of roses in her hands (2:59), with an agitated expression. *At first glance, they appear to be black roses but they are in fact slightly faded red roses as shown at **3:08* Blue hair's hand is grazed by roses at 3:09 which damages his soul. Remember that White hair and Blue hair share the same soul. This may be why at 3:19, there is a drink that clearly seems to be dropped hinting that White hair was affected too when Blue hair was dying. As you all may have speculated too, Blue hair is likely Haru and Brown hair/Red eye is likely to be Akane/White hair. WAIT, at the 3:31, I think White hair is doing one last spell for Haru that would make it so that he rebirths or she gets reincarnated? White hair is transforming into a tree at 3:43, and she At 4:58, Akane (Brown hair) does the same hair twirl that White hair does at 2:42 from which Present Haru is able to recognize Red eye/Brown hair as reincarnated White hair. The red bracelet symbolizing destiny falling at 5:43 actually is a good sign, because it shows that Haru and Akane have been reunited, thus fulfilling the bracelet's purpose. *However, another theory is that this may all have been Haru's dream which could disprove part of the reincarnation theory* which is why it shows at 6:50, there is a photograph of a young Haru and Akane* If we stick with the reincarnation theory, Blue hair and White hair reunited at 4:57, when they are teenagers, this collides with the photograph of them as young children . Additional observations: At the butterfly scene the lyrics were: "What do you want to do with the margin of life? What do you want to touch with that hand?" But at the death scene: "The margins that should be drawn are cut off What you touch collapses from your hand" I feel like in the butterfly scene, Haru touches the butterflies, and I think they are souls but what he touched, a soul collapsed from his hands, which I think symbolizing that his own soul disappearing or basically collapsing. In the photograph 2:41 where Teal hair, Golden eye, and White hair are all together, they have this red flower with a yellow center that Haru/Blue hair has the same flower in his left eye socket in 4:38. Also does anyone know what the red flowers with yellow center at 2:52 are? I did a ton of research think they are peonies which represent good fortune in love and romance. Although it was a bare 3 minutes before White hair and Blue hair was dying 😭, it felt like I've known them for so much longer even though there's so much we don't know and was able to connect with them. Thank you so much for creating this! I am completely awestruck by the God tier animation ✨👌. I would love to see any other theories other people have, feel free to reply down below.

@@ddean1 Oh yes, good eye! It may also be plausible that Blue eye somehow lost her hourglass either through accident or planned murder and Golden eye is trying to save Blue eye. As shown in 0:26, Golden eye has a rather sad expression as she checks up on Blue eye. At 0:32 is what is believed to be one of Golden eye's, I managed to use translation services, it's perhaps not the most accurate but here it is, "With the chain that connects the soul and the body, I must save you. if someone's life can save you, I" It cuts off at "I" but it seems clear that Golden eye tried to killed Haru to save Blue eye. Either way, you're theory is very possible. Who knows, perhaps maybe even Golden eye was involved in Blue eye's loss of her hourglass.
