My little city here in Ontario Canada just got it's own little Independent League team in the IBL, the Intercounty Baseball League. It's a small league that's been in continuous operation since 1919 and it is so cool to see the whole city come together and support the team. Season's tickets sold out almost immediately, and we got major upgrades to our nice little field. Its named for our hometown hall of Famer, Fergie Jenkins!

Couldn't agree more. Indy Ball is so much more affordable (as a fan) and intimate. Way more inclined to see an Indy game in my own city than hop on the train for a half hour to see another game for three times the money.

It’s true about minor league baseball. As a fan, how can you be proud and root for your team to win when the players and the team itself doesn’t care if they win and are only interested in development and their own personal stats because they only want make it to the next level. Which obviously you can’t fault the players for that. Their goal is to make it to the big time. That is just how it is structured. that would be awesome if the Indy leagues grew to the point where guys were able to make a nice living and it served as actual competition to mlb. The fans that have teams in the area that can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars and take their family to mlb games can enjoy some quality baseball at more affordable prices

I think indie ball should allow more crowd participation. Think more like KBO.

Independent baseball is, like non-league soccer in Europe, baseball at the community level. I've found myself less attracted to big league sports in recent years and much more toward community small-ball because it provides a more satisfying experience, with smaller, more intimate yet far less claustrophobic stadiums surrounded by trees and wide open to the sky, smaller, friendlier crowds, cheaper ticket and concession prices, and teams that still deliver a decent on-field product for the money, in leagues that are less predictable and compete for championships that are every bit as real as the Bigs. I have fun at places like those and still get to watch a pretty good game, and it doesn't cost three-figures for an outing. And you can also watch games off KZbin and get your sportsball fix without paying $80/month for premium sports channel packages. This is sport at a sane human level and I think emotionally and psychologically as well as financially it's a much better option than following the big leagues.

How do you spell that "similar to Trackman" technology? I am the AsstGM of a Mexican League team and always interested in the new tech in the game
