You're right to each their own. I love the anticipation of not knowing what's on other end of the line till I pull it thru the ice. The fishing on DL is so easy a novice can go out and have a good time. Some of us are just a little more natural or true outdoorsmen than others. Thanks for spending time on our lake and happy to see you were successful. Fish hard, fish safe, but most of all have a good time

Hi Leah, a 1:1 fly reel is really only practical in shallow water. Anything over 15' and the time it takes to retrieve line and lure makes it impractical to fish with the 1:1 reels. Eagle Claw and 13 Fishing have fly reel style reels out with a multiplied retrieve approaching 3:1. Check them out for use in deeper water.

Hi BushWacker - I didn't say they weren't good eating. I said I prefer to eat smaller fish and let the larger ones go. Your mileage may vary and I completely respect your right to keep larger perch. For me... I just dig letting those big ones go and making a meal out of the 11".

@pheasantmaster Will do. We'll have lots more to share as we get out on the ice here in MN. Thanks for tuning in!

Thanks for tuning in and the compliments on the videos. We'll be cranking them out come first ice so stay tuned. As far as L. Simcoe is concerned, we've never fished that particular body of water so we really can't make the comparison with Devils. We do know that Simcoe is a very good perch fishery based on reputation. Maybe some day we'll get there!

Cool stuff. At 15.43 near the surface on the left, there's a little creature swimming by. I can't tell if it's a minnow or freshwater shrimp. Perhaps the Perch have been fattening up on those.

The Vx1 Pro is a fantastic unit that won't break the bank. You get all the needed features like Interference Rejection, Bottom Zoom, battery, charger and softpack for a very good price. It would make a great "starter" unit.

The spot behind you anytime during the 25 minute mark, is there a white farmhouse in that tree area to the right of the screen your left as you're kneeled down? I've fished that spot if so, drifting for walleyes.

Really liked the video but here's a common problem. Most people are on a budget and devils lake is so huge its difficult to find those hot bites without spending a ton of time looking. I spent a whole week looking for fish to bite and ended up leaving skunked. Pretty tough when you came from Michigan 17 hours away. But I'll be trying my luck again this year in February hopefully I can figure something out because all I hear is "this is amazing fishing"
@habitualstudios12 жыл бұрын
I used to think that too. But let me tell you , you are WRONG. I borrowed my buddys auqa view and yes, it is fun to actually see what you are fishing. You can scope out fishing spots, actually "see" the structure in different parts of the lake. I have a totally new outlook on the camera thing now, I think it is great, and most of all, really, really, fun!

@BornAlroundFisher Greetings! No, the marcum camera can't do the recording. But we have figured out ways to record from the MarCum's video out port. Please see this video for details on how to get that done >>> kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX3Kl6Znh7KSd9k&feature=share

You should check out Dr. Sonar Map Chips of Devils Lake. The key to fishing Devils, is finding old structure that has been under the current water level for years. You can fish old trees, ditches and road beds. Outside of that, join our forums at www.in-depthoutdoors.com and read through the Devils Lake page for more info!

Why do people think they need cameras and fish finders to catch fish. I fish Devils Lake and the DL basin every year,and do very good. Are Big game hunters allowed to use inferred cameras to find their game? The use of cameras and electronics take the fun out of fishing.
