The biggest problem you missed was the lack of a specific BACK BUTTON. for each app you have to do different things to go back.
@AI-Creations-LLC
@AI-Creations-LLC 8 ай бұрын
Another thing I like is the recent apps button because I can just press the button and get to all the apps that I had open. Another thing I don't like about Apple phones nowadays is the gesture navigation. It is slow 😞 the last thing I don't like about iPhones is changing the settings. You can't change settings from within an app. You have to go to the settings page to change settings in the settings app for specific apps.

Its give or take, ios system controls are more consistent, but the back button is more fragmented. They would have to define exactly what the button will do, which will still vary a bit

@@tutacat I disagree when I press the back button on android it goes back. When I press home it goes home. When I press the app drawer it takes me to the app drawer. It's extremely consistent. Also android now has gesture navigation too.

ios is more of eye candy than a functional operating system. Atleast more so in the past decade, Apple is now bringing more features each year and you can tell its taking a toll on the stability of ios with ios16 as a case study. Its definitely not an easy feat (android devs deserve some credit). In short, Apple paid more attention to how ios looks than how it worked for users until recently. Android on the other hand, started as a super functional operating system and in the past few years, has been getting more attention to UI design. And for some of us, it just makes more sense to use android because of how it fits our needs.

Really informative video on the differences in UX between iOS and Android in 2023. The main reasons that I prefer Android and why I switched has been due to the UX. I agree it's not a discussion of what's better (to each their own) but what one's lived experience and preference is. I appreciate your telling about your preferred UX (in a very well-done and informative video) even if that is for the Android OS. For me the preferred UX also includes Google's ever evolving ambient computing with it's AI Assistant. I truly appreciate that the Pixel series (and Google) provides an AI-first mobile UX.

Fantastic video Emad! You nailed all of the reasons why I don't switch. Notifications (6:26) is a BIG one for me. Android 13 on Pixel makes it so useful to manage my notifications in so many ways and you nailed it! 8:24 Quick settings is another good one! Control center doesn't feel intuitive and its a guessing game as to what each button does. Also, in order to add more itens on Control Center you have to go into Setting app and dive into the list. On Android you can add new items directly in the Quick Settings. You really nailed everything perfectly.

Emad, THANK YOU for this video! I have been pointing out the "inconveniences" of iOS for years, which is why I switched to Pixel phones a few years back. Nice video! I try to explain to my friends about how good notification handling is on Android, but find I am an outlier with volume of emails and other communication streams I am keeping track of throughout a workday. If you are someone who is a "phone go brrr" type user, much of this stuff doesn't seem important. But for someone like yourself and others who use it has a true communications tool, it does matter. Also, the iOS alarm volume is buried in their Health App sleep schedule setup (which also appears at the top of the alarms section in the clock app), so you get just the one alarm w/ independent volume control. I don't know why Apple does it like that, it couldn't possibly be that they want to collect data on your sleeping habits lol (yes, Google does this too, if you let them, but at least they give separate alarm volume if you want it). I flip between Pixel and iPhone. The only reason I tried iOS again is that I ended up buying a MacBook Pro which I really like, and since some of my younger clients text me rather than Slack, email or Google Chat, maybe I can see if it makes things easier. At least 2 people congratulated me on no longer having green text bubbles (and those same people said something again when I went back to Pixel). Honestly the iMessage thing is okay but it is nothing really special. Apple is a master at addicting users and creating a "no-questions-asked" user base. Apple also seems to try super hard to make the animations and haptics as sticky as possible, adding to this Candy Crush like experience on the device. It's weird how much I noticed it when I switched back to my Pixel after a just a few months.

I'm not a fanboy, but I believe I know why So settings for casual users is a one time thing. I change phones or change their stock rom pretty frequently and when I change to daily drive a phone (or a rom) (mostly it's Android) I would have to change some settings like eye comfort (reading mode or blue light in some OS), sounds and notifications for apps, what should be shown in the lockscreen, camera settings and launchers. Basically I think these apple people thought to provide settings in one place. iPhones are for casual users.

Just like iPhone's, Apples computers are the same. inconvenient and extreme headache. settings are right there at your finger tip on Android while on IOS you have to go through alot just to turn off Bluetooth or wifi. My God its so annoying and the reason why I was depressed for a year when I decided to get the iPhone X thinking it would be special and different but it was a nightmare and complete headache. Windows like Android also gives you action Eton perform right there, no need to have to go to the task bar to close out on an app you don't even still have open and then you have to click back to the app you are using to do the same. My God why why why? can't they just make it quick and easy. It's too much going back and forth to close programs and apps on Apple's computers but like Android, everything is a complete breeze, quick, convenient, and super easy to get to while OSx is exhausting. Also don't like how Apple has their Taskbar set at the top because having to continously look at the time makes me feel nauseous and is probably why I just can't get into using macs but I've tried and so many times. I just can't stand Unix. It's so plain and boring.

An often overlooked feature of Android is delayed message sending, I didn't know how much I'd like it but it's so refreshing to be able to text someone in a different timezone or a person who is napping who doesn't snooze their phone (seniors mostly) so a text can be sent at a designated time. Apple is fooling their customers into thinking it's a premium device while so many features are lacking. RCS later this year might change that but why would anyone continue to "hope' when you could have it all now with Android.

iOS is built on getting from point A to B as few distractions as possible. While it tries to center itself around productivity ever since Steve jobs passed it's been more about adding new features rather than finding ways to integrate their already existing ones properly. Having an Android phone allows you to use your mobile phone as a miniature PC.

iOS is certainly not built to be A to B OS for almost anything. It's A B C... Z to C. This videos shows why, also iOS always had so much bullshit with it like iTunes. iOS was simple and nice only when it was iPhone OS and then it slowly turned into turd. It's now oddly more complex and less functional than Android.

I've used android all my life because it's what I grew up on and was used to but I wanted to try an iphone so I switched in 2021 but just switched back to android a few days ago. I got the S24 Ultra. Didn't care for the iphone and happy to be back on android but I am NOT saying android is better I just like it better and it works better for me. I gotta know how you got that assistant voice typing. I can't find it anywhere. I have the regular voice typing and it doesn't do any of that. Is it an older thing on android or is it in the settings or on a specific messaging app?

The problem is iOS was born too long ago, for a much smaller form factor with features added year over year, now it’s too much confusing. Probably, at this point, it will be better for Apple to work on a new operating system rebuilt from the ground up instead of revolutionize the entire operating system they already have (see how ios16 was dramatically problematic due to a bunch of new features they added)

I don't think it's strictly age. Android is a similar age, after all. It's more how the feature addition has been handled over the years. Any software that's been under development for long enough will accumulate cruft. OpenGL has accumulated lots of cruft over its 30+ year history. Enough so that the Khronos Group, which maintains it, created Vulkan as a way to start fresh without the cruft. Vulkan has, unsurprisingly, accumulated features in its own right over the years, as well. It's obviously less, given it's a much younger project, but some of those will become cruft, given time. An example of physical cruft would be a house that's got a fireplace and chimney that have been boarded up, and a gas line that's no longer got anything connected to it because the owner installed reverse-cycle air conditioning to cover their heating. You could technically still use the old systems, but why bother when the new one is better?

I tried switching to iOS last year, and after two months, I reverted back to Android. It was a very frustrating experience, everything took additional steps on iOS, the UX was quite inconsistent, for example the back gesture does not work universally, notification management was just horrible, and my biggest issue, like in your case, was the keyboard/typing experience. Now I understand why people with iPhones make so many typing mistakes, the keyboard is horrendous 😂. I have no idea how some people can switch to iOS after using Android for a while, it feels like going back in time, and using a more primitive operating system from 2010. And I also encountered bugs and glitches, so "it just works" definitely did not apply to me 😂.

What if Google decides to restrict the Google Assistant to Android users only? And some other features that the Apple users are using for free at this moment? That might shake the user base to reconsider their choice of OS. The end goal is to make Apple give access to the free iOS apps for the Android users also, for better compatibility and communication.

First of all I love your video, I've used both iPHONE and android but on the 1:11 typing experience you can use keyboard shortcuts with your important information to be pasted as soon as you type the shortcut like address or phone number by typing the shortcut, also its a little bit concerning to me to have important information on my clipboard specially now a days when a lot of apps are always checking what you have on your clipboard as soon as you open them, I know you can delete it but for me is more convenient and safe to not have important info on my clipboard and just type a keyboard shortcut and it will be paste it on my text automatically leaving it out of reach of intrusive apps.

Android user here (never owned iphone) Half of the issues you have were available in android as well 2-3 years ago. It may be more polished now, But may be ios will take a note of it soon. Like giving option for widgets on home screen. And yes some are legit, but some are just to make you be in phone all the time, not being able to see notification icons, and notification when you scroll down everytime is a life gem, usually this is achievable in android by DND, but still iphone has its one set of mechanism to handle it. Its like preference, not like an issue. On a phone of 6 inch, multi-task is kind of pointless, even in android not all the apps support it, forget the part where you use android phone of other vendors than google. The notification tray icons with text, it wasnt there in android till 12 ( 11 was my fav), now it just takes space with the names, they should give option to remove names and give just the icons as well. why remove feature. You could store 6 icons, before scrolling down, now its only 4 and also takes more space up top. The ideologies of 2 os is pretty different, while andoird has the settings option of each app in it itself, ios has everything in settings. Yes it looks painful, but iphones arent for people who like to tinker. Thats why there are more android skins, diff android flavours for you to explore, ofcourse losing the warranty of new device if you install it. You wouldnt trust to run banking apps in that os anyway. Having voice assistant, even if android does better job, its also 99% chance, it shared half of things you said to google. Apple may have also been doing this, but google has its own large network to target you for ads.
