You including Zhang Fei who only stood there and roared out at the enemy, but I'm talking about the guy who single handedly carved his way through an army of 100,000s to save his men and then alone carved out a path back to safety for his men. Along the way, he at least hacked down a dozen or so of the enemy generals and nearly made his way to the enemy main camp!

Regarding Leo Major this only part of his record. The day after D day he took out an armoured German command vehicle capturing a number of secret codes by himself. Not long after that he got into a fight with an SS patrol of 8 killing half but lost his eye in the fight. Although he could have been sent home he insisted on continuing. Later in Holland he captured about 90 German soldier in one swoop. He was severely injured when a Bren gun carrier he was on hit a mine but insisted on going on. In the Dutch town mentioned he captured about 90 more soldiers, set the Gestapo head quarters on fire, broke into the overall command headquarters killing half the Germans there. He volunteered for the Korean war. When the Americans from the top and the Canadians from the side of a hill called little Gibraltar were forced out under a Chinese two division assault he lead a scout team into the centre of the Chinese position and opened fire. The Chinese retreated because they could not see their attackers who where in the middle of their position. The Chinese regrouped and put in a division assault, Major was ordered to withdraw but refused and asked for artillery support that eventually lead the Chinese to retreat.

Jaswant Singh Rawat (19 August 1941 - 17 November 1962) was an Indian rifleman soldier of 4 Garhwal Rifles The exemplary bravery shown by Jaswant Rawat was honored by building a memorial at the post where he fought the Chinese army. The post which he held against the Chinese Army was named as Jaswant Garh.Another honor bestowed upon him is that he continues in the service even after death, he has been awarded promotions as if he is still serving the Nation. The orders for the 4 Garhwal rifles were to retreat from their position but Rifleman Jaswant Singh, remained at his post and repulsed Chinese troops for three days from overrunning the post. The local story goes that he was assisted by two Monpa girls named Sela and Nura some others say that the village lady was Boom la. They had put guns at various places in such a manner that the Chinese were made to believe that the post had many soldiers. But the Chinese got hold of the man who was supplying rations to Jaswant Singh Rawat and it became known to them that only one man was guarding the post. The infuriated Chinese attacked with full force. Sela was killed in a grenade blast, Nura was captured and Jaswant Singh Rawat killed by a head shot. According to the legend he killed more than 150 Chinese Soldiers in the battle and the Chinese were so angry with him that they cut off his head back to China. After the ceasefire impressed by the soldier’s bravery, the Chinese returned the head along with a brass bust of Jaswant Singh.

The Yugoslavian capital Belgrade was taken without a shot being fired on April 12, 1941 - much earlier than the high command had anticipated - by a handful of troops low on ammunition and high on morale, led by a man who was not afraid to seize an opportunity when he saw it. The highly unorthodox assault was a product of the military judgment, audacious courage of Waffen SS Captain Fritz Klingenberg. A 26-year-old graduate of the Bad Tölz officers academy, Klingenberg had gained a reputation as a hero of sorts during the French campaign. Klingenberg’s direction of artillery during a battle was unique and impressive. Once, during the French campaign, he even called deadly 88mm fire down on his own position to rout an enemy counterattack. That action allowed the entire German column to press forward, taking advantage of confusion among the French. During another engagement, he called Junkers Ju-87 Stuka dive bombers down on his position to stop the enemy from retreating, which resulted in the capture of 55 prisoners. For that action, he was awarded the Iron Cross First Class. Klingenberg never boasted of his accomplishments. When later asked by students at Bad Tölz SS Oficer academy how he had captured the capital of a country, he simply said, ‘I was not too preoccupied at the time, and found something to do.’ Earns my respect for saving such a beautiful city and its inhabitants death and destruction........

At the Battle of Mirbat in Oman, 1972, he operated a British 25lb artillery piece single handed - a task normally handled by 4-6 men! His solo action distracted the attackers from the rest of his section, buying valuable time until air support eventually arrived.

Audie Murphy 26 January 1945, near Holtzwihr, France, commanded Company B, which was attacked by six tanks and waves of infantry. Lieutenant Murphy ordered his men to withdraw to a prepared position in a woods while he remained forward at his command post and continued to give fire directions to the artillery by telephone. Behind him to his right one of our tank destroyers received a direct hit and began to burn. It's crew withdrew to the woods. Lieutenant Murphy continued to direct artillery fire which killed large numbers of the advancing enemy infantry. With the enemy tanks abreast of his position, Lieutenant Murphy climbed on the burning tank destroyer which was in danger of blowing up any instant and employed its .50 caliber machine gun against the enemy. He was alone and exposed to the German fire from three sides, but his deadly fire killed dozens of Germans and caused their infantry attack to waver. the enemy tanks, losing infantry support, began to fall back. For an hour the Germans tried every available weapon to eliminated Lieutenant Murphy, but he continued to hold his position and wiped out a squad which was trying to creep up unnoticed on his right flank. Germans reached as close as 10 yards only to be mowed down by his fire. He received a leg wound but ignored it and continued the single-handed fight until his ammunition was exhausted. He then made his way to his company, refused medical attention, and organized the company in a counterattack which forced the Germans to withdraw. His directing of artillery fire wiped out many of the enemy; he personally killed or wounded about 50. Lieutenant Murphy's indomitable courage and his refusal to give an inch of ground saved his company from possible encirclement and destruction and enabled it to hold the woods which had been the enemy's objective.

Aníbal Milhais, probably no one heard of him, but if falls in the same category.. Even i, from the same country as him, just heard of his exploits cause I'm an history geek. "He found himself in the midst of the battle, (World War I) in the field of Isberg, covering the withdrawal of Portuguese and Scots soldiers. Within a few hours, 1,938 men had been killed, 5,198 wounded and about 7,000 taken prisoner. Milhais was in charge of a Lewis gun on April 9, 1918. During Operation Georgette, when the German Army attacked his division, Milhais laid down intensive fire against assaults by two German regiments, causing many German casualties. He managed to cover the retreat of Portuguese and Scots alike, despite coming under heavy attack himself. He fired in all directions and stayed at his post until he ran out of ammunition. Finally, the Germans decided to go around his position, and Milhais found himself alone in the rear of the enemy lines for three days. On the third day, Milhais, still carrying his Lewis gun, rescued a Scottish major from a swamp, and the two reached Allied lines. Milhais was warmly welcomed, but being a modest man he did not say anything about his experiences. However, the officer he had helped reported his actions to the British headquarters and several other testimonies also made his deeds known. A few months later, Milhais once again held back a German assault single-handed with his Lewis gun, allowing a Belgian unit to retreat safely to a secondary trench without casualties. Both the British observers present in the scene and the Belgian commander included his action in their reports. Milhais was awarded the highest Portuguese distinction - the Order of the Tower and Sword - and the French Légion d'Honneur, delivered on the battlefield before 15,000 Allied soldiers."

He along with his 200 company of men held back an entire Indian Brigade of 5,000 men for 10 days, thereby delaying the indians and defeating their objectives. In the end, the indians gave up and by passed him for other towns. After the war, General Manikshaw recommended Pakistan high command to award him for his tactical and ferocious bravery.
