India breaks Fortress to seal the Series 2-1 | Thunder Downunder 4th Test Report Card

What a victory for the Indian cricket Team. It has been 32 years since the Aussies lost at the gabba and it took a team with grit, determination and heart to break down the fortress to seal the series once again in Australian soil.
The best part of this fairy tale was the fact that the team won it as a collective unit rather than individual brilliance. Rishab Pant is by far the most special talent in the side and the way he won the game for India was truly epic. His knock of unbeaten 89 was exemplary from the moment he went out to the middle. Initially took his time to see the ball and once he was set he started to let loose against the bowlers. Cheeka has been saying that Rishab Pant is a match-winner for the last couple of seasons and he proved yet again why he is a special cricketer.
When the day started India needed 320 odd runs to get and the initial wicket of Rohit Sharma dented all the hopes of a victory but then came in the young Gill who took the aussies bowling by surprise. What impressed Cheeka the most was the time that Shubman Gill has in the middle when he’s playing his strokes. His strokes were pristine and one thing we can say for sure about this youngster is that he is here to stay. More about him in the coming seasons.
Cheteshwar pujara played the role of an anchor and the way he played his defense was simply outstanding. He got dealt a lot of lethal deliveries and also suffered a few blows but one thing he made sure of was to spend time in the wicket. The only drawback for Cheteshwar Pujara is the fact that he doesn’t seem to rotate the strike as often as he should but in today’s context, it worked for the team, and overall, it was a positive result.

The key to the comeback in this series was Rahane whose fighting knock in the 2nd test changed everything. Rahane's captaincy is built on picking the right playing 11. He picked Gill, Pant and Jadeja for the 2nd test. He picked Sundar over Kuldeep for the final test. The Sundar-Thakur partnership won India the match. And finally, Pujara stood like a rock and got hit many times. He forced the Aussies to bowl short and fast and totally tired them out in the process. Great character shown by Indian team.
