When i was in central Java during the holidays and only a few stalls were available. had to find a random toilet fasttttttttttt and ended up at some place with a hole only, no toilet. was not pleasant lol. toilet situation matters a lot lol. but, most street food in Indonesia is clean, especially since i go to the popular places :)

@@ArifMasyur ya karena indonesia kampanye vegetarian, apalagi vegan sangat tidak terasa. nyari vegetarian di indo tu mungkin cuma 1000 banding 10. nah kalo ga ada pasarnya, orang juga mikir2 mau ngembangin pasar vegetarian ataupun vegan. tapi tanpa adanya pasar vegetarian yang besar, keberadaan tempe, tahu, lotek pecel gudeg, bahkan banyak sekali makanan yang cocok buat vegetarian. bahkan lebih variatif dibanding malaysia, ataupun filipina, yang rata rata makanannya pork based. beda dengan india, vegetarian jadi mayoritas.

Halo Evan... If you have much time just go trip to Bogor City... A lot of food and authentic culinary (Street Food) you should try... From Jakarta to Bogor City just go by Commuter Line train (in any station) as you tried before when you go find Gado-gado... Jakarta (Cikini or Juanda Station) --> Bogor City (last station) it's take around 1.5 hours... The popular street food place is in China Town / Suryakencana... Better go on Saturday or Sunday... See you there....

Originally, papeda is a dish from east Indonesia, like Maluku or Papua, but recently papeda become one of Jakartans streetfood (especially for kids, that's why they sell it around school area) since it's cheap. In east Indonesia back then, rice is a rare comodity, but they have plenty of fish, cassava and sagu (main ingredients of papeda), so east Indonesian people made any kind of dishes made from all of it. The first place of tongseng that u had eaten was charged 70K for a portion (tong seng + rice + ice tea = too expensive) in Sunda Kelapa Mosque you have charged only 40K rups and it was normal price [tongseng + rice = 30K & Coconut drink 10K]. Fyi, in other side around of the street still at same place area [Sunda Kelapa Mosque] actually you may found the originall tongseng street vendor they're still use charcoal for cooking the tongseng and use his own body to bring all those equipments [mobile/di pikul] and the price probably cheaper for 1 portion of tongseng less tha 30K #imo

If you want to visit the Mosque in Jakarta, you can visit Istiqlal Mosque as the biggest Mosque in south east asia. For amazing architecture you can go to Al-Jabbar Mosque in Bandung, Masjid Raya Sheikh Zayed in Solo, and Masjid 99 Kubah Asmaul Husna in Makassar. Actually, so many great Mosque you can visit in Indonesia, I just tell you some of the famous ones on social media lately
