Yearly more than 1000 TMC of water goes to the Sea from River Godavari. Godavari River has multiple tributaries after they enter in to Telangana and AP comign from Chattisgarh, Orissa. Telangana and AP States have constructed these dams to save major chunk of that water. As Telangana is above the River Level where these tributaries are merging with Godavari, they have done Lift Irigation to send water back into the Up River and thus water to Up Lands. AP is constructing the Polavaram where the hills end and the plains start with 194 TMC reservior capacity. From this DAM apart from 900MW Power there are Two irrigation Canals. The right (North) take water to North East (East Godavari, Vishaka Patnama districts) and South (West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasham) . The South (Left) canal Merges in to Krishna River at Pavitra Sangam where Munneru, a tributary of Krishan Meets Krishna River. Both these canals are Gravity Basis, they can take water from above 35 Meter Level. This Project also has Water Way Navigation system like the Suez canal where large scale Bots can cargo through Godavari River. AP is now starting another Life Irrigation at Polavaram so that It can pump water from below 35 Meter level and send to the Right (south) Canal.

I'm from Bengaluru, first clean Vrishubhavathi and restore lakes. There was 396 lakes 70 years ago. Now only 100+ remain and only 18 are clean , others have been drained and converted in BDA plots

No wonder these projects are going to contribute for several years for the development of the state but I would like to see such projects being developed all over the nation.. This goes for all infra projects.. there should be centralized decision making for infra projects and SPV's like NHAI and DFC to ensure entire India is well developed.. As much as I hate to admit China is a very good example .. Their infrastructure development even over the past 2 decades have been exponential and will benefit for the entire century

While i appreciate these things happening we also have to address the elephant in the room. Deforestation. Forests and only forests can help in restoring the ground water and river water on which these projects are dependent on. So plant ad many trees as you can. Of course you may think what significance can a tree have but i have seen it. I used to live in a greenery rich place about 10 kms from where i am today. Rainfall there was a regular occurrence but here just 10kms away along the same terrain and same topography all i see is a concrete jungle and the rains are less. Its like we are creating our own rain shadow area if we are cutting trees. Plant trees which bear fruits or have value, doesn't matter and then you can reap them later by claiming to nurture them.
