Not have two time-zones does have its downside. Companies, Households ends up paying in higher Electricity cost, and other costs when you have to turn on lights and it gets dark. Let's say, if the Eastern states days and time starts early, then they can take benefits of sunlight, and plan accordingly their day. whereas Western States will start their day 1-2 hous late as per the sunlight there.

we don't really need different time zones. we need smart office, official times and a central common hour system, where each state will work in it efficient timings as if india is have multiple timezones.
