Sanjeev Sanyal is a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, and a popular author on history. He talks to Hindol Sengupta about,
- discriminating indices aimed against India,
- rules like CBAM which could be protectionist in the name of environmentalism,
- barriers to rising India and to tackle them,
- the strength of the Indian economy and its challenges,
- and why he is building a ship!

Actually its not just global rules and indices but also in their minds especially the self appointed Intelligentsia and so called liberal elite who occupy media, politics, NGOs, businesses, Cinema etc. where east Asia was able to join in to the western socio-economic and mindspace by accepting their clothes and habits very early in the 20th century onwards, India is still struggling to keep that fine balance because of the civilizational history and social norms it has inherited. If you look at the utterances by sam Pitroda and majority of the congress party leaders you will understand how hard is that struggle because over the years there has been a self hatred for anything your own considered Indian amongst these so called 'enlightened' Indians which has put them in a tug of war with their own consciousness.

thats not true, japan is proud of its ancient civilizational heritage but it also modernizes and innovates so well and uses their principles to get wayy ahead of westerners themselves. The thing is we should be more like Japan and use them as role models and try to reproduce (not replicate) their methods to innovate more and become socio-economically stronger. The self-hatred actually is a huge barrier to our progress. That said most of the intellectuals who answer these 'expert surveys' are Anti-India

How about Indian govt encourage NRIs and Indians themselves to buy Indian govt bonds? Just guarantee more liquidity, and they would prefer to move their US savings account balances to RBI. US savings interest is max 5% which gets taxed. But RBI giving 7.14% with liquidity will be a win-win for NRIs and Indian govt.

Next 30 years in power .Just abolish personal income.tax, decolonise Indian democracy, history, education, Healthcare, laws, constitution, judiciary, police, bureaucracy, media and entertainment, minimum taxes like GST, Toll, focus on mass rapid transportation for passengers, freight, inland water transportation, massive waste recycling, waste to energy, recycled products, prefabrication of houses, bridges, road, rail, building and many other sector to improve quality employment to educated engineering degree youth and many others. Indian judiciary, bureaucracy must be made time bound, inexpensive and quality justice to all within 30 days of filing. Robots, AI and advanced technology must be introduced for unbiased and inexpensive judiciary. Once this is done under Modi 3.0 including abolishing wakf Act, Minority Ministry dept, and introduction of uniform laws India will progress at 14% GDP minimum. But I doubt Modi has the ability to do it as it seems BJP a congress version 2.0.

Reason India is rated poorly in these indices is cause due to the erroneous indicator known as GDP per Capita. Which assumes there is a linear inverse relationship between GDP per Capita metric & population of a nation. Which is as wrong aa get. Mind you GDP per capita of LIBYA is 6,600 as compared to India's 2,700. Despite, LIBYA is under Civil War for more than a decade.
