The tiger is the largest of all the big cat species. , an adult Bengal Tiger can be up to 3 metres in length (including the tail!), and weigh over 250 kilograms.
Due to habitat destruction , fragmentation and hunting, 3 of the 9 sub-species of tiger that exist in modern times are extinct. All remaining tigers are classified as Endangered by IUCN .
