S-400 has its own utility, different things are meant for different purposes. Laser follows a linear path while a missile follows a non-linear path.

US has only recently been able make 25 kwt laser weapon and are working on it to enhance to 60 kwt. On the other hand India has already been successful to build 100 kwt laser weapon and it has also been tested secretly. In this field India is ahead of the world and further working to develop it to 200/300/500 kwt.

Assessment isn't apt . S-400 is a AREA Defence platform and can act as interceptor and also can be used for tracking and reconnaissance upto extent of 500 km + . Also S-400 system can be used to hit targets which are not within Visual Line of Sight. Thus claiming that DEW ( Diected Energy Weapon) is going to negate the requirement of S-400 then unfortunately assessment is flawed. DEW is effective against targets which are within Visual Line of Sight and can cheaply destroy or intercept incoming projectiles. DEW system will instead be effective replacement of CIWS ( Close in Weapon Systems) provided the energy input is constant and readily available for prolonged usage of the DEW system and recharge or reload time of DEW system is shorter compared to conventional CIWS . Also S-400 system not only has defensive role but also can be used for offensive role and also has tracking and deep area reconnaissance capability and can relay its collected data within the defence datalink network. The last pic in which you are showcasing an US Navy Ship using a DEW system to intercept and destroy a missile launched to destroy the ship is actually the work which a CIWS conventionally is tasked to do .

With all due respect sir, I think there are gaps in your understanding of how air defence system works. Matching the capability of S 400 with current generation of Directed energy weapons is just not possible. It will take atleast 25 more years to develop lasers that can intercept hypersonic targets at the ranges of 200+ km, with short response time, decent mobility and satisfactory kill probability. The thumnail is rather misguiding or pehaphs inspired by some "anti-russia" sentiments of foreign investors of unacademy.

In recent war with Hamas, Israel used Iron dome and Arrow missile defense system, they “Field tested “ the Laser weapon. It is Still not able to replace the iron dome. So, Indian missile defense system will also need interceptor missile, Laser is not there yet. About S-400, No ! Laser still Can NOT replace at 400km range !! Laser is for short range, the energy needed for such a long range is extremely high.

This is still experimental, the current distance of Israel laser weapon is 5KM only and the energy drops as the distance increases, and the current generation laser weapons need to focus the energy on the projectile for atleast 20-30 secs, so, if you are attacked by lot of rockets at ones then it means you will need multiple such lasers.

First part is detection using short bursts of waves and then follows destruction method.The later must be sufficiently manouverable to cover all possible directions.and also defend itself from a similar enemy attack.Thus such weapons need to be tested against say s 400 system to find its weaknesses before making any sweeping statement.

Just one question like weakness of any light spectrum wont reflectors be effective against such Directed energy Weapons. Target agar thousands of km distance mein hai wahan dew kaam nahi aayega. DEW short distance mein target neutralize karega agar s400 jaise system ki relevance long range mein target interception ke liye humesha rahegi. The 400 in S-400 shows the heating range of the missiles fired by the defense system to kill me target up to 400 km away which is not possible by a Laser weapon available for testing today. So it will not replace S-400.
