There is nothing wrong in it, many saw an opportunity in real estate, took huge risk by investing huge amount of money and harvesting it now while many were doing bank FD or mutual funds. It's nothing but investment choices that went wrong for many middle class people, who were believer of forever renting theory.

I am an owner and rented few flats in Gurgaon. I charge 1-2 month security and even that's high for many. Cost of funds, prices and maintenance is high hence rents are bound to increase. Buyer takes all the risk when they invest huge amount in a project, hence they want ROI.

You cannot blame the house owners for high rent, owners are paying 9% home loan interest per month on EMI, when they took loan the interest was 6.8% + they Per Month 2.5k maintenance cost to society. Banks should reduce the loan interest rates which will eventually happen after Govt allows.
