It exports as well as imports oil. It does both

@rp5339 I accept the fact. But USA does both. They export the higher quality shell gas and shell oil and import lower quality oil from middle east. Few of their refineries aren't equipped to handle the shell oil.

In principle, buying crude from USA, half way round the globe is ridiculous. It is unwise, with India placed near Middle-East (may be 500 nautical miles away) just across the Arabian Sea. It makes no economic sense at all, except as a means to curry favour with the the leading global power. At last we dropped that. One should be glad.

Russian oil wont be impacted due to relationship between Iran and Russia. Additionally, if the Houttis attack the Russian ships, we can use the INSTC route ehich is much safer.

This is not a shock. Please don't twist the facts. Due to Red Sea issues oil import from USA is impacted. The longer route will make oil from USA much more expensive than oil from middle east. That's why USA imports of oil have been put on hold.
