India Tests Pinaka-ER | Enhanced Range Rocket Missile System To Boost India’s Border Defence​

The Pinaka-Extended Range (ER) Multi Barrel Rocket Launcher System was successfully tested at Pokhran Range on December 10.The Pinaka-ER is an upgraded version of the earlier Pinaka rockets that have been in service with the Indian Army for a decade
According to DRDO, the Indian defence industry has been given access to the extended range technology for the Pinaka-ER.The extended ranger version has been designed in light of emerging requirements on India’s frontiers. The ER version of the Pinaka can destroy targets at distances up to 45 km.

Pinaka like precision guided short range missiles if mass produced at a much lower cost could replace traditional artillery guns to some extent. Why Pinaka couldn't be mass produced to bring down the cost nearly to that of an artillery shell ? Why couldn't it be done ? There should be way to bridge the gap.

That doesn't make sense because unlike artillery shells its much easier to shoot down rockets and missiles if you've got a solid defense mechanism. Like how Israel's Iron Dome defended against the rockets fired from Gaza. Plus, shooting artillery shells are more about precision and rockets are used when you want to make a lot of destruction in a war, so they both have different uses.

It's just a combination of explosives, computing power and missile tech. Who knew that drones could be mass manufactured this cheaply a couple of decades ago. It's not impossible, it can perform the role of an artillery shell and some more.... at almost the same cost

Apparently some ngo filed a complaint that the road development in those region degrades environmen and cause landslides. The govt literally gave the length of brahmos missile and asked court how will they take a missile this long on these small roads. We live in a democracy unlike china.
