One of the last stops for me in North India was this beautiful city called Amritsar which is on the Pakistan border and part of the Punjab region. My time here has been truly exceptional with so many new experiences, new religious knowledge and also very nice, friendly locals. Sharing the first moments of my journey in the city.

Thank you so much for the comments! I have also been in old parts of the Amritsar, but the main objective for me was to visit Golden Temple. And unlike other cities this religious attraction point was very well organized and managed. Also except beggers, nobody hustled me for business or money :) That was the main difference I think, and also people were super friendly. Amritsar been my favorite during my whole India trip in north.

if you visit religious sites on modern part of other cities in India you will also find they are quite organised with lot less touts than those of older part of the cities. because in older parts of the cities lot of poor people live most of them are migrants and immigrants.

Sikhs are the best people! I’ve had the honour of working with 6 or 7 Punjabis over over the last 4 years, and they are the most kind hearted, generous people I’ve known. I’ve been to the opposite end of India 32 years ago, Tamil Nadu, but I’ve never experienced the generosity of Sikhs before this!

Sikhism was founded by guru Nanak Dev Ji, who was born in a Hindu family. Sikhism has monotheism fusing elements of Hinduism and Islam. I am also a Sikh, our family came from Pakistan during partition.

I am sorry to differ but contrary to popular belief Buddhism and Sikhism is the exact opposite of Hinduism. The Buddha rejected the very basic forms of Gods and goddesses in Hinduism while Guru Nanak emphasized on a monotheistic belief. Yes both of those religions are originated in the Indian subcontinent but the creed vary to bigger extent.
