NCP leader Ajit Pawar on Wednesday opened up about how he wanted to become Maharashtra's chief minister but could not move beyond the post of deputy chief minister. Pawar, who led a split in the NCP last year and joined the Mahayuti government, has served as the state's deputy chief minister for a record five times. Speaking at India Today Mumbai Conclave, Ajit Pawar, fondly called 'Ajit Dada' by his supporters, said, "I want to become chief minister but I am not able to move ahead. I am not getting the chance."

Very very pathetic interviews by Mr. Rajdeep sir Desai, I watched all the political interviews of these India today conclave Mumbai as I am very much interested in politics and it’s really annoying when interviewer was Mr. Rajdeep, Do you think if anyone wants to join X and Y in future they will tell you on stage that today I am with X and after election results I will go with Y. It was Waste of Time. Rahul’s questions were much better than so called and highly biased Mr. Rajdeep. Same thing you did with Mr. Nitin Gadkari ji, you asked same questions again and again do you think they will tell you on public platform? Why are you trying to create controversies? Ask all of them what you gonna do if you come into the power and How will you implement? These are the questions you have to ask as a journalist.
