Tendulkar was just dragging his career after his 100th international century. Under Dhoni, India was whitewashed and humiliated on English and Australian soil in 2011 and 2011-12 tours. Those losses were so severe that senior players like Laxman and Dravid announced their retirements in 2012 while Tendulkar kept dragging his career. I still remember this series as well. Apart from the first match, Indian players had no clue to play Panesar who i consider an average spinner. Pietersen and Cook played Indian spin bowling really well. India was defeated by England in this series as well. Ishant Sharma was the worst fast bowler India has at that time. Cook was dropped by Ishant and he went on to score 294. Michael Clarke was dropped by Ishant and he went on to score 329*. Same with Brendon McCullum and he scored 302.

IDK why MS is so hated in India rn. It is only happening these days. People should understand he captained India for almost 10 years won 3 icc trophies during that. It is obvious he would be losing many during same time. We haven’t got a captain who could win half of that. He only lost one home series to prime england with bowlers like Awana and Dinda . I mean surely kohli was a good test captain but MS was not bad he just didn’t have the resources. He used to manage test match with such bowlers which would not even be selected in Ranji today. He would have won many more if he had better bowlers. Just see this test match when he saw Awana and Dinda were completely ineffective he went with 4 spinners + jadeja with series on line Can any other captain do that today! He was a very brave and selfless captain!
