All smiles in the Lankan camp as they script history in the capital city of Sri Lanka. In the third ODI Sri Lanka beat India by a massive margin of 110 runs. Chasing 249 Indian skipper Rohit Sharma started aggressively and played some wonderful strokes.
His partner Shubman Gill struggled to get going and got cleaned up on six while trying to break the shackles. Rohit played some magnificent strokes and raced to 35 off 20 balls before edging one to the keeper.
Rishabh Pant at three got stumped cheaply on six as the visitors were reduced to 67/3 at the end of the first powerplay. Virat Kohli was trapped right in front of the stumps by Dunith Wellalage on 20 in the 11th over. The left-arm spinner dismissed Axar Patel (2) and Shreyas Iyer (8) in a single over as the visitors were reeling at 82/6 in the 13th over.
Debutant Riyan Parag looked positive at the crease but left one and got cleaned up on 15. Shivam Dube ran out of patience tried a slog sweep and got trapped in front of the stumps on nine. Washington Sundar showed some resilience along with Kuldeep Yadav.
Sundar hit some lusty blows and frustrated the Lankans. The pair of Sundar and Kuldeep put 37 for the ninth wicket before the former holed out in the deep on 30. Kuldeep departed on six as India got bundled out on 138 in 26.1 overs to lose the game by 110 runs.
Nine of the ten Indian wickets were picked up by spinners. Dunith Wellalage bowled brilliantly and picked up a five-wicket haul. Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay grabbed two scalps each as they completed a fine performance with the ball in hand.
Earlier in the day Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka won the toss for the third time in the series and opted to bat first. Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando looked solid at the crease and gave the hosts a very good start. They kept the Indian side at bay and remained unscathed in the first powerplay.
Finally Axar Patel broke the 89-run stand by dismissing Nissanka on 45 in the 20th over. Kusal Mendis joined Fernando who kept playing positively and brought up a well-composed fifty off 65 balls.
The pair of Kusal and Fernando stitched 82 for the second wicket before the latter fell four short of a well-deserved ton. Parag picked up his second wicket by trapping Charith Asalanka on 10. Sadeera Samarawickrama registered a golden duck as the visitors stormed back in the game.
Janith Liyanage (8) and Dunith Wellalage (2) were dismissed in quick succession. Sri Lanka lost all the momentum but Kamindu Mendis at number eight made sure that they finished on a high. He remained unbeaten on 23 to take his side to 248/7.

The Lankan spinners then spun a web around the visitors who faltered with the bat to get knocked over on 138 to lose the game by 110 runs and lose the series by a 2-0 margin.
