You have such a healthy viewpoint on your birth plan & breastfeeding. I’ve seen so, so many women disappointed after things didn’t “follow the plan” but it’s all so unpredictable! As long as you and baby are happy that’s all that matters!
@indiabatson26Ай бұрын
This is so kind 🩷🥹 I’m sure it’s easier said than done!!! but I truly want to be flexible and just aim for baby to arrive safely first and foremost 🎉
@Littleflower53Ай бұрын
You’re so right! I see so many women beat themselves up when things don’t go according to their “plan”. Plans don’t generally work with childbirth and dealing with a newborn. Go with the flow. What works today with baby may not work tomorrow (or even ever again!). Trial and error is constant, but things DO settle eventually!
@anne-mariewoods4794Ай бұрын
This! It’s better to have birth hopes vs birth plans, because you can have hopes and dreams for one thing but that baby and you might need something entirely different. It is refreshing to see someone with such a healthy outlook on everything birth and postpartum wise for sure.
@sammimata19 күн бұрын
Agreed! Your mindset is everything! I planned on homebirth and ended up transferring after 24 hours. Breastfeeding didn’t work either. I had to “mourn” both of those while freshly postpartum and I beat myself up for months. Now my son is 2 and so energetic and happy as can be and I feel like I robbed myself of enjoying the newborn life! So excited for you guys!

I’m a postpartum nurse and your mentality is great! I’ve seen so many moms spiral into PPD/PPA because of the pressure to breastfeed. Don’t let anyone dictate your choices, a happy momma will help keep a happy baby. Good luck with everything and remember to be kind to yourself postpartum, you’ll be doing the best you can and that’s all anyone can ask of you.
@claireerodriguez35339 күн бұрын
I totally agree! I definitely spiraled in PPD after my 1st pregnancy and the pressure to breastfeed was intense! I ended up only breastfeeding for like 12 weeks with both my kids (mainly due to having to go back to work full time) and they both turned out to be very healthy and happy babies❤

Two things! 1. As someone who really wanted a water birth, unmedicated but ended up high risk and unable to: epidural is AMAZING and I'm so happy I ended up getting it. Your plan is great. If you'd like to get an idea of what other things you may or may not want in your birth I highly recommend Jen Hamilton's birth vibes template! 2. Check with your insurance which breastpumps you can get for free through it! almost all insurance plans in the US will pay for a good quality pump like the Spectra for example.
@DaltonsFriendswoodАй бұрын
I have several new moms in my circles and it seems that lots of them are opting to pump and bottle feed. As a mom who exclusively breastfed, I have to say that pumping and Bottle feeding is really more work than just nursing directly. I hope it works out for you - I found it very rewarding and super easy once you get in the groove. If not, formula is amazing too and you’ll still get all the same feeding time snuggles 💜
@indiabatson26Ай бұрын
Yes I found my friends who pumped had SO MANY bottles to clean constantly but they have multiple kids and wanted their husbands to be able to feed the baby too and bond while they would then take care of the other kids I think? Idk to each their own. I’m hopeful breastfeeding will work for me!!! But if not, it’ll be ok. Thank you babe ❤❤❤❤❤

Very selfishly im so excited to see how your hair goes through pregnancy and motherhood. My hair texture changed and became wavy curly 2c/3a with my second baby. I've been binging wavy curly videos for the last few weeks coming to terms with the fact that i now have to maintain my hair "properly" which is sometimes challenging with an infant. I'm hoping to have another baby and pregnancy is rough on me so doing hair through all that feels a bit daunting atm but i feel inspired by your journey to help keep me motivated to keep my hair well done as a form of relaxation and self care because i do feel so much better when it looks nice
@asurian124Ай бұрын
Breastfeeding is a touchy subject because it is far beyond just feeding your baby, which of course is so critical. But beyond this, beyond the science of why it’s healthier, it is the foundation to establishing a loving bond with your child. It is the safest place for a baby to be at the breast. It helps you cope with motherhood. When the baby latches and begins to nurse, you are flooded with oxytocin and feel joy, a sigh of relief and the most warm and loving feelings towards your baby. It is truly a mysterious thing and a blessing from God. It is worth exhausting all efforts to maintain the connection. The first two weeks are so painful, but if you can endure, you and your baby will be rewarded.
@MsPandaVАй бұрын
I can agree with what you’re saying and what you are saying because this is very valid. You also make very valid points. When it comes to women and having a child along with the decision to breast feed or not to breastfeed it is always a personal decision and one that could be hard for some women but this is the most natural God given way to feed and nurture a baby’s level of nutrition and create that bond but I also see the other side as well because there is a level of pressure to breastfeed and they’re are other options such as bottle feeding so I can understand why some women would take that route and why it is healthy to realize that it can be hard to breastfeed so I see both sides of the argument
@EmmaLee192Ай бұрын
you sound insane. fed is best. come down off your high horse.
@marynadobrovytska7150Ай бұрын
I know lots of people who were breastfed and have no bond with their mom cause their moms were toxic to them as well as those who were formula fed and have the most amazing bond ever. The bond you're gonna have is determined by what kind of person you are and how you treat your kid, not whether you breastfed or not.

My sister-in-law felt like a bad mother when she couldn't breast feed correctly. Other mothers were giving her guilt trips for not trying harder. I wasn't a mother at the time, BUT I told her that her baby would be better with a happier, more loving mother using organic formula then having an unhappy mother in pain all the time just so she could make everyone happy. Moral of the story: YOU DO what's best for you and your child!

It is helpful to start with small goals start with 2 weeks, then 6, then 12, etc.

Praise God for this next chapter- I am SO happy for you and Daniel! I’ve been following you since the Deva days (lollll) and have loved watching your journey through hair, marriage, and now pregnancy. I got married around the same time as you AND am currently pregnant for the first time with my twin boys! Living the same life 😂 When you described your baby’s kicks, that’s exactly how it felt for me when they first started! A little twitch. Now it’s unmistakable, but I do have a posterior placenta. I learned that it’s super normal for them to happen when you’re sitting, laying on the couch or in bed, because you’re “rocking your baby to sleep” as you move throughout the day, so then when you go to relax, they wake up! 😂 I thought that was the coolest thing but also made total sense when I learned that from my OB lol! 💗

An interesting thing most women don't know is when we lose a fallopian tube due to an ectopic pregnancy, we think we can only conceive then every other month. That is not true. Our bodies are so crazy that when we ovulate on the side of the lost tube, the tube on the other side can "swing over" and catch the egg. I lost my left tube and knowing I was ovulating on the left side that month, assumed I couldn't conceive that month, but I did. My OB and perinatologist explained how that happens, which blew my mind. Another KZbinr, Let's Talk IBD, who lost her tube after an ectopic pregnancy ruptured following an IUI early this year, did the same. Her opposite tube caught the egg, and she is now in her 2nd trimester. So chances of conception are dropped a bit, but not by 50% as we would assume.

You look so beautiful!! With my first baby I was bound and determined that I was going to breastfeed. I triedfor 8 weeks and we had a lot of various problems. Because I wanted it so bad and it wasn't working I ended up having some postpartum depression and my baby bonded more to my husband. So it made my postpartum very hard and I missed the newborn stage basically. Totally regret it! With my second I said I would try but if it didn't work I'm going right to the bottle and I had a wonderful postpartum, even though I wasn't able to breastfeed my second. I love your mindset going into breastfeeding! It works for some and not for others. I definitely believe it's not worth missing the newborn stage for it. It goes so fast! I have such a strong bond with my second, so you can definitely still get that bond even with bottle feeding. So happy for you and continued prayers during your pregnancy!

I know you’re not sharing where you are in weeks- and I respect that! Just wanted to say a lot of my friends were saying they felt their baby at 12 weeks, 16 weeks. I think I was hyper vigilant looking for it as I never felt anything that early. Then at 20 weeks it was like a little fish turned around in my belly! My sister felt her baby at 22 weeks. Your baby could still be small and your placenta helps soften it, but one day it will be unmistakable and they’ll happen more and more from there! Also for me they were never intense or strong and I gave birth to a super wiggle boy so don’t worry about it! Congrats!

Am a previous midwife, and definitely agree with fed is best. Extremely stressful for everyone if breastfeeding just isn't working, for whatever reason. Carrying on in a state of crisis and pressure is detrimental. But then sometimes just getting good advice can make a big difference to overcoming maybe something that is a simple fix.

I'm 25 weeks with an anterior placenta. There's only just starting to be bigger movement... but like you, it's when I'm lying down at random times. You're going into this with a great mindset. How you birth doesn't really matter, as long as both you and the baby get through it safely. I agree that epidurals are great. I also agree that fed is best, irrespective of how. I did both - breast for 10 weeks then formula. I did beat myself up to start with, but those were different times to now. Don't ever let someone make you feel less than if formula feeding works best for you.

An advice I have for labor before going to the hospital is to breathe and breathe down, when you have contractions, breathe down and think down. I got to 7.5 cm with little pain with doing that. I was shocked. (It was my last pregnancy, the one before that was TERRIBLE during labor)

I had an anterior placenta with my 3rd and I hated it because I thought I would feel her move sooner, being my 3rd, but instead it felt like I waited forever to feel those little kicks!! Also, in case you haven’t been told yet, babies are “rocked” to sleep by your movements, walking, etc 🥰 so you are more likely to feel him move when you are quiet and still! :) they wake up and protest that you are no longer lulling them to sleep!! I will agree with everyone else about your healthy mindset towards delivery/breastfeeding. I will say though that if you want to feel successful in breastfeeding you may want to take a class beforehand and find a good board certified lactation consultant-it can just set you up better for what to expect both hard and painful. Not all nurses certified as “lactation consultants” actually know what they’re talking about. Find the right support system. I just feel like unless someone really wants it to work out, they typically will give up sooner. I do think that’s a bummer because of how convenient it can be once you figure it out-I sure loved nursing my own babies. But mentally/emotionally healthy mom beats breastmilk any day. Easy. Mamas have enough going on postpartum to bother with the shame/guilt and emotional turmoil of breastfeeding struggles. (It’s kind of ridiculous how much all hits at once in that fourth trimester!)
@asurian124Ай бұрын
You truly need a team of people around you that are going to support your breastfeeding. If no one around you has experience or sees the value in it, you may give up quickly. I had a nurse latch my first baby at every feed while I was in hospital. It is so hard in the beginning, but once you figure it out, it is a joy!

I've only just found out that miscarriages can be highly impacted by the father (not here to point fingers at all, but I didn't know! And it could help some people!). For whoever needs this information: "Recent studies have found out that in case of recurrent miscarriages, the father is likely to have a high incidence of abnormal chromosomes in his sperm (...) with unhealthy lifestyle among men being the key reason" (such as smoking (tobacco, weed), drinking coffee/alcohol, having a lot of red meat). Which means, if you're struggling with recurring miscarriages maybe your male partner needs to modify his habits for at least 8 weeks before trying again. If this can help someone out there! ♥ Source: the Economic Times

Every single one of my births had different circumstances and ended up completely different. As someone who has had completely unmedicated births, epidural vaginal births (my fave!), an emergency c-section and a failed VBAC, no, c-sections are not natural births at all. People want to change the definitions of words rather than accepting reality, but the actuality is going in through the abdomen with a scalpel is not at all a natural process of the human body, but a man-created procedure invented and developed. Any birth that ends with a healthy baby is the perfect birth, but I refuse to lie or pretend a man-made surigical procedure is a natural human birthing occurrence.. My c-sections were needed and I'm so grateful doctors have developed this alternative option, but they're not at all natural. Natural means occurring in nature. We don't see other mammals like gorillas or zebras in the jungles naturally having c-sections lol.

Omg everyone will have sooooo many opinions about everything childcare from here on out. So irritating. Everyone says what they did is best 😂 ignore it and do what feels right to you To me baby kicks felt like pokes at first. If you think you’re feeling it you probably are 😊

Weak sperm is the cause of most miscarriages and is a relatively easy fix on the guys part :)

As a baby I wasn’t breast fed nor did I get to bond with my mother. My immune system is terrible and I struggle in my life greatly because of it. I agree fed is best. Personally I think those first few days everyone should have the opportunity to be breast fed to receive the antibodies etc and have a strong healthy immune system. Honestly even if you needed doner breast milk that would work. Beyond those first few days I don’t think it matters as much but this is just my two cents.

I think you have an amazing plan because, it’s your plan. I tried to breast feed and due to medicine mishaps my breast milk dried up but I always loved by the philosophy that “fed is best”. I am so proud of you and I so happy for you! You are going to be the best mother. 🥰🫶🏻🥹

For me it feels like a little fish swimming around at first :)
