I’ve been watching your channel for a long time. Your one of the only curly hair “influencers” I still watch. Thanks for making this video. I'm all about the Less is More, minimizing hair care approach, so you had me sold on trying the regular 10-in-1 primer... then I checked out the ingredients. No major allergens for me - UNTIL I checked out their "fragrance" ingredients list. I'd LOVE if hair care products all had a Zero Fragrance option, I really would!
@natv.2375 Жыл бұрын
It's to mask the chemical smells. It probably smells kinda bad "raw" or unscented. Although I agree some products definitely go overboard with the fragrance. Not to mention if every single product has a strong scent and you're layering everything it can get overwhelming. The struggle is real
@ggad1899 Жыл бұрын
@@natv.2375 I've made some of my own products, like lotions. Yes, things like shea butter are strong scents. But there's a difference between neutralizing smells - which can be done to create the fragrance free products many of us own - and adding every floral/musk/etc scent many of us are allergic to.

Since I've started this journey, over 2 1/2 years ago, I finally got to know my hair & what works for my hair. I used to think that my hair needed it all (leave-in, curl cream, curl enhancing gel, mousse and a hard hold gel. Now I know KISS (Keep it simple sis). I, too, don't like brush styling bc it takes too long. If I do, I do a quick one.

I have low porosity, high density, fine hair. I have waves/curls. Really elongated curls, even if my hair is short. I used to used to use lots of things but I found my holy grail conditioner that takes care of it all. It is a conditioner bar from etsy. It's argan oil and shea butter based. I don't wash it all out and it takes care of my hair. Now I get less hold beause I am not using a styler, but my hair is also mid thigh length soooooo I don't expect a lot of hold anyway. I am on a journey to see how long my hair will grow. I still actually have the curl, I just lack volume because of the length and because I no longer cut layers in because my ends were looking thin and with length I want the thickness throughout. It is more impressive to have a thick braid lol. If anyone wants a link to the conditioner bar I can link it. I just don't want peopel to think I am sponsored or something, I just really love their product. For shampoo I use whatever and I need sulfates due to my scalp psoriasis. I did use lush shampoo bars before I had to use medicated shampoos.

I have a mixture of 3a and 2c curls. Thick and thin hair mixture. Lots of volume and density. I used to straighten my hair in the '90s... I love my natural hair now. While wash-off conditioners make my hair extra soft, it also kills my curls, making them flattish in just 24 hours (I have tried all high-street products for curly hair, Cantu, and Kerastase too ... none worked for me). And I hate saturating my hair with gel etc to hold my curls. I also have dry hair so don't need to wash every day. So, I end up with gorgeous hair on day 1 and clean but meh hair the rest of the week. I resigned myself to this... I also have tried the DIY "natural curly hair products". Which gave me the worse dandruff. So I gave it up. Shampoo and a multi-spray (detangler/UV/heat) protector are all I use these days. My hair feels soft, looks healthy, and yes, it has some frizz but I live in a humid country... so I guess this is normal. When it comes to heat styling. I rarely use anything to style, if it's cold outside and need to dry my hair, I use my hair drier on the lowest heat setting with a diffuser. Dry my roots and neck area mostly and leave the ends to dry naturally. I used to have a regular hair drier, then got a Dyson two years ago. It makes no difference to my hair health, don't waste your money on a fancy Dyson unless you have plenty to spare. The only improvement is on the noise, the Dyson is quieter and it can blast heat faster if required. If I am feeling fancy I use medium-hold curling mousse, which doesn't feel crunchy when it dries and holds my curls for a couple of days. Honestly, I agree, we don't need complicated hair routines for our lovely curly mane!

When I can't buy a leave in for whatever reason, I usually just get a tiny bit of conditioner or a mask, and I mix it with water until it's very diluted down and I just spray that all over and scrunch. While it's not the best, it works when I don't have anything else. I just pay attention to clarifying my hair so there isn't any build up.

I’ve been using the curly girl method for 10 years. One thing I went through with co-washing with conditioner is losing a lot of hair. I think it was the cowashing, but it could also be going through some years of hormone changes. I no longer co wash and I lose very little hair. Also I just broke down and bought a den man brush after not using a brush all this time. I don’t really like the results, my hair seems to be really puffy using it which I definitely don’t like. I appreciate India’s comments on it and yes, I also spend little time styling so I may have wasted the money on the brush (I have coarse, dry, thick hair, maybe 3b)

I use a few more things than your list, like sometimes I use a leave in instead of conditioner, I also sometimes use a mousse or a spray styler, and a deep conditioner, but I use 4 products on most shower days and another midweek for refreshing. Hope to get the shark dryer soon, and a couple t-shirt towels, but I'm ok for now. Pretty much have all the tools I need. I just use my denman in the shower to align and smooth the strands, and lift the hairs on the top of my scalp for volume which creates curl formation closer to my the scalp. I don't do the curling or anything like that. I quit buying products and am working to reduce what I do have. I did go back to shampoos though. Tired of the hair loss, but that could also be age too.

I recommend: Bumble and Bumble Shamooo and condition in the YELLOW color. Than their defining curl cream. I do not apply heat to my hair on the regular. I do highlight. Defusing my hair with those things on it to dry make it look pretty amazing but I typically just dry natural. If I get a "birds nest" I will brush the under side out and use DEVINE OI OIL. Mine looked like yours when I was younger but older now its a bit thinner so when it air dries its not as "full" looking but I just focus on nice defined curls that are super soft. I can't stand gel or moose and never could. I basically try to only brush wet and use a target purchased wet brush or I finger comb. Once I brush and put stuff in and crunch, I don't touch it again unless it's knotting, which is the oil I pop in in a pinch. If I go into super humid conditions it can go crazy, but I don't fight it. I just go with it or put it up. My hair is fine, but thick loads of hair and loads of curls and it takes a while to air dry. When I use other brands of shampoo/conditioner I seem to have more hair loss so nothing will get me away from bumble. I used redkin when I was younger.

I love a simple hair routine because I don't have time every wash day to go hard with a million products and dry my hair. I go to a curly hair salon and they tought me some simple methods and my hair has never been better and I need less products. After I shampoo, I put in conditioner, add water, squish to condition, add some more and squish to condition, and then I rinse but I leave like 10% of the condition in my hair to act as my leave in conditioner, and then I either add a mouse or just my gel or both my mouse and gel, and I'm good to go. I diffuse and my hair is the nicest it's ever been. So now, I have like 10 products I don't need anymore, and I do use them from time to time but I won't be repurchasing so many once they are gone because my life is simplified and so much better now.

So many influencers have been promoting this (paid promotion) and it makes me want to try it but then I read rows and rows of recent reviews from users saying they too were influenced to buy it and are now severely disappointed. Any other folks here notice the same thing but have success stories with the fine version of the 10 in 1? 😭🙏

CGM has been found to cause hair loss. It doesn't have to, but IF you use a lot of heavy oils and butters (too heavy for your hair type), and DONT clarify routinely then it'll clog the hair follicles (causes hair loss), and weigh down your hair. CGM can work if you use the right products for your hair type (ie if you're a wavy, or have fine curly hair, using lightweight products with lighter oils like argan or sunflower). Or if you clarify periodically

Now I'm also using a curl cream, a gel, and mousse. I'm struggling with frizz. I'm not sure if it's not enough moisture, not enough product, whatever technique I'm trying to attempt, or just haven't found the right products yet. Of course I'm on a budget. So I have a list for what to buy next when I'm running low on something.

I leave in, non leave in conditioner because my hair loves products. The more stuff that's in there the easier it is to detangle. My detangling brush is also great for running through the hair with all the goop to help against frizz, then dry naturally. And I will get curls, barely spending money as i also buy the shampoo and conditioner with offers.

Curly girl destroyed my hair. I had problems from the beginning, but people told me the hair had to get "used" to it. Seven years later, the hair not only didn't get used to it but it changed. I went from medium, shine, normal porosity, 3a/3b curls to a dry, porous, opaque, thin head of 2b/2c/3a hair with an infinite shedding in the 7 years I was curly girl. I was going bald. Since I am known for my hair, people started asking what was going on and I finally addressed the problems I was having. Doctor, clinical tests and everything came back ok. I was given an androgenetic alopecia diagnosis. I turned to my hair care and realize that when I was dying my hair, the day I applied the dye it didn't fall. The same when I shampooed. I went back to sulfate shampoo and improved. I went curly girl again and the hair fall restarted. I stopped it by september 2019 and went back to my old routine. I spent a lot of $ to recover it. Nioxin, no oils/butters/anything with these, Redken Extreme, then in office treatments. Now I clean my hair every single day as I did before going curly girl. Silicones and petrolatum are back in my life for good. Never again I will fall for internet hype or Brand's alegations to sell their products without looking things up

I use mielle protein free conditioner. and I style and air dry with just a $2 protein free gel containing argan oil that I found at a local beauty supply store. cream would cause waaaay too much buildup. when I deep condition I use a heated cap and my reguler conditioner. I dont own a brush, only a comb. my hair is very healthy. theres a bit of frizz but thats natural and not a sign of dryness. i dont have any split ends or breakage. the slight bit of frizz is worth it for the volume i get. and i dont care to spend hours on my hair

I don't do cgm. My hair is fine with a wavy texture. The waves are stronger in the back and the front pieces are more straight. I am trying a new cream to see if protein helps my hair. My hair is a mix of 2a and b.

I have fine 2a low porosity virgin hair and actually love the curl smith bond rehab salve because my fine hair needs protein and easily gets over moisturized but that’s just me

Arrrg. I’m a newbie. Just found out (accidentally) that I am not Roseanne of roseannadanna. I thought I had frizzy hair and no one suggested otherwise. Thanks for nuthin’ salons. I pay big money at the Salon where they whip it till it’s smooth - but can’t do it at home. I need serious help now so I’ll go through your videos. I love the idea of few products so ya sold me. I need a bathroom remodel for all the expensive crap I’ve lost money on😖. I have fine hair and not a lot but it sure can puff up to look as big as I need. Wish me luck as I begin your videos. ❤️

I agree with knowing hair porosity, density and what not but hair type 2a, 3c really has no significance it just depends on how well you style your hair each time. Nonetheless good advice

I got that denman brush when it was all the craze and everytime I used it, I could hear my hair snap. Needless to say, I quit using it pretty quickly. The best brush I ever owned came from dollar tree. There are no knots on the end of the bristles, and helps define my curls.

Covid made me decide to go curly. I had straightened my hair my entire adult life. Your channel saved my sanity. The curly girl method was not for me. Toooooooo many RULES. This has been a long journey. I think i'm finally figuring it out. Of course everyday is different. Thank you.

I’ve let my hair go to natural curly about 5 years ago. I’ve never used all the products…. It’s always been too much!

So… are sulphates basically clarifiers?
@kathydilorenzo9744 Жыл бұрын
Clarifying made my hair so dry and brittle and it stripped it of color, so I no longer use a clarifying shampoo! That is my experience
@Allicatxo13 Жыл бұрын
There are color friendly and curl friendly clarifiers. It does not have to be a clarifying shampoo

Every movement needs an anti movement😂 great!!! I was watching curly videos like nobody's business lately and learned a lot good stuff and improved my hair which looks similar to yours. What I like is not having stress with hair, sometimes I take the time to style my hair to be curly and stuff and some day I straighten or blow dry and also many times I wash it and do nothing. This addiction to a process and the products for it is not for me.

You say you have a two product styling routine. So youre using shampoo, conditioner, 10 in 1 Primer, gel and bond builder, right?

The link to the website for Eva nyc opened a page but kept locking when I searched for Primer for fine hair. When I got frustrated and went to this page straight from my browser there was no option for the fine hair version of the product and it made me answer a 10 question quiz b4 it would even give me access to the search functionality. Also, there are a lot of shipping related issues described in the reviews. Sorry, I tried but just can’t get anywhere but the sign up for text messages, which I will have to cancel now. I would love to try this. Maybe you have some influence with them. (See what I did there?)

Love this video! Simple, accessible, and effective is as you would say “my jam”! 😂 Curious, can you use this spray on fine course high density hair? Does it matter if you use this spray on dry or wet hair for heat protection?

AWESOME VIDEO! I LEARNED THIS MANY YEARS AGO AFTER WATCHING ALL THESE VIDEOS & REALIZING THAT WE DON'T NEED ALL THAT CRAP... WHO'S FREAKING IDEA WAS THAT ANYWAYS??🤣 BEADHEAD HAS AN AWESOME DIFFUSER FOR UNDER $40, EVEN UNDER 30 AT SOME PLACES, THAT I HAVE BEEN USING FOR OVER 10 YEARS NOW AND I LOVE IT.

How have you figured out which products work for your hair type & really figure out your hair type? I want to get to know my curly hair better but it's so much contradicting info out there

I've been following curly hair videos for like 4 years. A month ago I found a lady in my area who does curly cuts and knows about curly hair. She gave me a curly cut, suggested products for MY hair and showed me how to style MY hair and even showed me how to TRIM my hair. Night and day difference. Find someone in your area who knows curly hair. I think with tip I paid $67
