Indian 2: Zero Tolerance is a 2024 Tamil-language vigilante action film directed by S. Shankar, who co-wrote the script with B. Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravana Kumar. The movie, produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, is a sequel to the 1996 film *Indian*. Kamal Haasan returns as Senapathy, an ageing freedom fighter who turns into a vigilante to fight against corruption in India. The film also features Siddharth, S. J. Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and others in key roles. The story follows Senapathy as he comes back to India after more than two decades to help a group tackle corruption.
The project was first announced in September 2017, with production starting in January 2019. The film faced several delays, including a tragic accident in 2020 that killed some crew members and a two-year pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the setbacks, filming was completed by March 2024. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music, with cinematography by Ravi Varman and R. Rathnavelu, and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. Released worldwide on 12 July 2024, Indian 2 received negative reviews from critics, who felt it didn't live up to the original film. However, Kamal Haasan's performance was praised. The movie struggled at the box office, and due to its long runtime of over six hours, it was split into two parts, with Indian 3 set to release in 2025.
