I think that one you found on the lower side that you first thought Yadkin is a Hardaway Dalton 😁

I would love to agree with you there…believe me! But after finding 15 or 20 more of a similar shape I think the are Garden Creek style points. Definitely don’t run across this style much though outside of this one site.

That triangular @9:15 is similar to ones that I've found in northeast Georgia. There's was a spot in a plowed field that I found several of those. Mostly the points were shaped the same. A little chunky and not thin. Red, orange and yellow quartzites. Found on a high spot in the Chattahoochee river valley bottom outside of Helen GA. I showed these points to a local archaeological group and they were only identified as early archaic. They didn't give a name for them. Have you find a type name yet? Edit...just watched the rest of the video. Thanks for the info on the point type.

You were less than an hour from me so I’m sure the points were the same type I find. Archaeologist tend to use different terminology than collectors do. They focus more on groups. Many of the names applied to the points come from the collector side of things.

Looks for flakes in any exposed area of earth. Ifs it’s covered with leaf litter, find a level area close to water and rake the debris back down to dirt. Wait for a good rain and see what pops up.

Might your mystery point be a Uwharrie? I found a similar one, a little thinner, in central Piedmont NC.

It does look similar but I think the Uwharrie is a little bit out of my range here in western NC. It’s also a bit smaller than what I’m finding. But definitely a related point and from the same time range.

I love the words in the intro, so true. A lot of people are just not interested in History. For me its a true passion and hard for some friends & family to understand why I started another channel solely for it. The quartzite artifact is a blade. Put the index finger on the top where it is flat and the ring finger on the notch keeping pressure towards the palm, the blade will be revealed.

Thanks brother! Those old homesites you hunt are bound to have some. Most old homesites looked for the same terrain that the Natives sought out for camps. Level ground near water sources.

Me too, although I love finding all kinds of artifacts. For me, it’s just as exciting finding pottery shards, grinding stones, and cutting tools as it is spying prized points. Whenever I show my collection to someone they’re usually interested primarily in the points, and there I am trying to explain how cool the other stuff is too 😂

Try looking at them on an angle from the small to big you know just catch the angle and you might even catch some pictures on them and sometimes I take a picture and blow it up in my phone expand it and you can see more they like the carve small. Very small.

Yes. The same spots would have been used for temporary camps over thousands of years. That’s a lot of time for artifacts to gather up in the dirt!

A few years ago we found an almost perfect mano grinding stone on a ranch in southwestern Colorado. It would have been really cool if the corresponding matate grinding platform had been found with it, but it was nowhere in sight. If I would have found a complete set I probably would have given it to a museum. Just like yours, our grinding stone had fingerprints and indentations from the heel of their hands from so many years of use. It’s interesting to think that it might have been handed down through many generations in their families, and then it just sat there in the ground for millennia.

I'm 53 I've been hunting Arrowhead since I was 9 I think your pieces aren't broke and I think they're effigies if you look carefully where you think it's broke it's probably carved a lot of mine are thought were broke arrowheads and things but they're actually effigies perfect effigies and I think that's what you're finding too a lot of those and I don't think they're broke nice finds and have a great day
