In track cycling we have a solid chance to win a few medals in the next olympics In road cycling, I doubt we will get a medal in the next 3-4 olympics

@@TriathlonMadeEasy nooo sir my question is how many maximum medal can an individual win in single season of olympics like michael phelps-8 medals
@TriathlonMadeEasy3 жыл бұрын
@@ankitroy9407 well it depends on how many events a person can take part in. Phelps won that many medals coz he participated in almost all of the short distance pool events including freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke, medley etc. In comparison Bolt could take part in just 3 events - 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay. Road cycling has just 2 events at the Olympics - Road Race & Time Trial Other disciplines of cycling include Track and MTB. Track has 10+ events I think. But owing to the growing specialisation of cyclists, it is difficult for a road cyclist to win medals across all the cycling events

@TriathlonMadeEasy3 жыл бұрын
Every year, the states announce selections, if you finish at the podium at the state slections, you get qualified to represent the state at the nationals. You can listen to this podcast for a detailed discussion - open.spotify.com/episode/4PAVAgfzgEPpRbSQR0u222

Hey Abhishek, have Naveen ever tried to qualify for olympics, what is the way to qualify for it?
@TriathlonMadeEasy3 жыл бұрын
He has represented India at the World Championship ITT in 2016. Criteria for most sports such as track & field is well defined before hand. For eg the qualifying time for 100m is 10:05. If you clock a time faster at IOC recognized events, you get a spot in the olympics qualifying rounds. But with cycling it's not possible to set a speed or time target. I doubt if the Indian Team even sends road cyclists to the olympics

@@TriathlonMadeEasy I saw that for road cycling majority of places are attributed through UCI nation ranking (62 for women. in Tokyo Olympics) with special provisions for highly ranked individuals whose nations do not make it, Can you please shed light over how to participate for UCI, and thank you so so much for replying
@TriathlonMadeEasy3 жыл бұрын
I think if you are a podium finisher at the nationals the CFI (Cycling Federation of India) will consider sending you to represent the nation in International competitions, namely the South Asian Games & the Asian Games. We have definitely have Indian representations at the Asian Games & quite a few medals as well at the South Asian Games. I doubt if the CFI takes active measures to send athletes at the world champs. NJ has spoken about his experience at the UCI in 1 of his many podcasts. Let me try to find that

@@theawantikamishra I know a few people who represent a different state than their own. Mostly by going for trials of another state. Don't know how acceptable this practice is, but it is prevelant. I think the best people to help you out here would be Naveen himself or Arvind Panwar. They both know the Indian scene best. Reach out to them on thier insta page, they are quite responsive.
