So Safran is promoting joint development of a multiBillion$ 110kN engine that it plans for 2032 production that can't happen without MoD coFunding that coDevelopment - that must have begun in 2022 for 2032 production and only if all goes as planned - for an AMCA that won't be in production years later so that multiBillion$ 110kN engine will replace a much more affordable Make In India 98kN F414 for Tejas.2 - Got it!

Indian navy going in beast mode. What I know is, S4 class SSBNs are going to have capacity of carrying 8 K4 missiles which is double than that of INS Arihant. With S5 class SSBNs induction, India will have option to convert rest SSBNs to SSGNs. SSNs are already coming. Seems India is going in right direction when it comes to nuclear powered submarines.

India is doing really great in navy and Missiles technology . DRDO and Brahmos both are working towards March 8+ missile and multiple other missile on sideline . India is also becoming more self sufficient in Alluminition. We are only lacking in Airforce . Where we can't build a world class Fighter jet and probably 10 year late in making them .

True buddy The Indian Navy is doing great not only they are fasting up devlopment but they are doing it with maximum indeginisation not only submarines but also surface fleet like Destroyers ( vishakapatnam class nearly completed & p18 devlopment has already started) in frigates( p17a in making with deliveries expected soon and p17b cleared and also in corvettes and replenishment ships and the biggest thing IAC 1 indeginiously built and now another same IAC2 planned to ordered soon with designing of 75000 ton The INS Vishal going on and as you said submarines too just one thing P75I is needed to be fadtracked with TKMS and all other things are on track to jump from 5 th largest Navy now to 3rd largest Navy by 2030s Jai Hind 🇮🇳🇮🇳

I remember some 5-6 years ago when India inquired about SAAB they had categorically refused the software part as TOT.

It is just French proposal. Other than gaining some autonomy there is no real advantage going with Saffron engine. Reasons are 1. The new engine will be developed at our cost and will take 10 years to be ready. We cannot keep MK2 and AMCA waiting till then. 2. Even after this engine is ready, it will take another 5 years to integrate and certify with our jets. That means no MK2 and AMCA for next 15 years minimum. We cannot afford this delay when our squadron strength is declining. Even with MRFA acquisition we cannot solve this issue. We need MK2 and that too in big numbers to address this problem. 3. Of all 3 engines offered France has least experience and tech. They did not develop any new engine in last 40 years. RR has more experience and tech than France. GE already has engines readily available for MK2 and AMCA. 4. When all of them available with ToT, there is no reason to worry about any geopolitical situation as these will be manufactured in India. 5. Finally, government is planning to bring private to increase production rate of MK2. This means government wants MK2 production to start faster. This is not possible with France developing new engine which will be available in 10 years. So it is just France proposal, nothing concrete.

MRFA RFI- Saab is best deal at current status, but future is Rafale with 110kN engine prospects. Though France has not come clean with software and source code, only Engine tot Offer is there bcoz of tough competition from others. If it fails to satisfy 36+28 will be the french limit as 114 mrfa will completely shift the focus to the awarded partner.

The TEJAS MK2 engine is already set, so plz don't disturb it much. The F414 for the MK2 is tried and tested by defense forces all over the world and also verified by IAF. Don't try to get into the deal otherwise it might delay the TEJAS MK2 program. Try the Saffron 110KN for TEDBF and AMCA MK1, potentially matching the timeline also.

All hell is broken on IAF, our neighborhood is having much superior Fifth generation plus jets. You can't rely on Tejas and all those upcoming jets in pipeline for they're not battle tested. If the ruling regime in center is nt serious about providing fifth generation jets to IAF in required squadrons it's but natural to ask them what they're doing over one decade just sleeping on the issue. .
