I agree with lazy that our parents haven't actually played that many games, but my father used to own a computer (which is still with us btw) and on that computer he told me that he played delta force 1. He had completed all of its missions. One day I download him delta force on our new computer, and he absolutely enjoyed it. He still plays sometimes when he feels like. When I used to be younger, I have also played lots of angry birds, asphalt 8 etc. with my father on the tab he bought me. We still sometimes play COD MW 2 together. We had a computer super early on in life. I remember using windows XP and paint making the most beautiful scenery I could image on that computer which had a CRT monitor. I think that is why he understands my gaming and doesn't feel that games are bad.

If anyone didn't know there's a game called "Fears To Fathom" it's an amazing physiological horror game create by An Indian developer, it has 4 episodes and all are amazing!! Many foreign youtubers including markipelier and korryxkenshin have played it!! So yeah Indian Developers are still growing and this is one of the examples!! India has a long way to go, but trust me we WILL get there.

Yup people tend to forget that majority of this countrys population cant still meet their daily basic needs forget gaming. Majority of the countries wealth comes from just 1% population. i am in my sem 2 right now with the course of cse ds , when i was in class 7 i started learning game dev without even having a pc and you are right even though we have some courses in india about game dev we don't have any course about game design and the dev course we have only give us knowladge bare minimum to make a game using old tech unity (not even 4 to 5 years old it is like 10 to12 years old ) thats the main reason why i got ds as it might be useful in servers and game testing part of developement . You are a real gem for me as because of you millions of people are getting aware about true nature of gaming industry and i hope in 2 to 2.5 years things will get much better as i need to publish my first game until then , as i have done my research mostly on story and open world specific design and (mainly from zelda and novel type stories) even if i create a linear game it will get fun and i learned everything without even knowing the indian market , i can just hope on my luck now as my main priority right now is learn how to use unity and godot so I will not research anything about market right now.

@@Zen_Phantom if you have a pc start with unity watch acerolas video on how to become a graphics programmer and just do it , if you can't do that (potato pc) learn pygame or godot from clear code yt channel . These are the best resources currently in the market . For game design search gmtk on yt you will see a lot of stuff from the best yt creater on game design (also you can learn unity "BASICS" from him in 45 minutes)

Wished your video was longer. This is an honest video. I agree with you. Except the Govt part. Govt doesnt have anything to do with the industry. If companies want, they can but they dont. Indian businessmen make stuff for India only. Be it movies, games or anything. Take example of FauG and stuff, they promote themselves as "Desi game" in hopes people will stick to them just on the basis of it being Indian. Indians have neither creative mindset nor a vision. In India, everything is done on the current needs and basic demand. if battleroyale is currently trending, every office that calls themselves a Gaming company will clone battleroyale. Mayanagari and Mumbai Gullies are trying to make "Indian GTA".... we dont want that... we dont want "Indian game" we should want a game thats acceptable world wide. Games are digital properties, from marketing to distribution is done online on existing platforms such as GOG, Epic or Steam... Have you seen hoardings for Ghenshin Impact in India? No. Cuz they dont need physical pressence in a country to sell their game. Digital ads are enough. Dude your point about indian audiences not paying attention to games with retro pixelated graphics was sooo true. As someone who wants to get into game development and grew up watching western media, i feel like no one truly understands the true potential of a good 2d pixelated game in India. Majority of the "players" have had no exposure to games other than the common FPS battle royales. Half of the people i know dont even know what a fkin roguelike is. It just pisses me off bcz i know that in the future if i ecer get into game development, i wont have the funds to make a AAA game with polished graphics and will have to go for a low poly asthetic which wont be valued by my own country. I feel like if someone truly wants to make a game which isnt a 3d fps, battle royale, then its better if they try to target western audiences instead of trying to gain the attention of the indian market.

I am aware that gaming industry in India has not gone far. But i request Lazy Assassin and anyone reading this to do 3 things: 1. Be optimistic by believing thay there is hope even if you think that its impossible. Our parents generation grew up spreading negativity and pessimism to our generation because hopelessness and a poverty stricken India were the only things they knew. Its our duty to be better than them by at the very least believing in a better tomorrow. If you are optimistic you may fail. But if you are pessimistic you will fail. 2. Work hard in your passion by collaborating with like minded individuals. Making anything like a game is an enormous endevour and it requires many minds to work together. 3. Be silent and let your work talk. While i hate pessimism, i also do not like hyper optimism by people who say that India is the best nation in the world. KZbin is the free source of information. If someone wanna make the game, it could be done with no budget either. Most of the budget goes to asset development. Other steps can be mostly software development. Cost goes to detailed character designs, motion captured animations, and level design assets, gameplay mechanics. Marketing is next. First things first. The Education of game devs in India is really poor. Cuz education of creating video games through code is as tough as other software development jobs. It's all about creating assets, creating code for the player movement, enemy AI, physics, trigonometric maths. And then, we have our brilliant job HRs and job requirements for interns and freshers. There was one internship where the requirement was, Expert in C# C++, Expert in Unity, Expert in Maya, Blender, photoshop, lightroom, after effects I mean think abt an upcoming game dev who has made 2-3 games in Unity and knows C# well and comes across this bs requirement. How will he start his career lol?

Im proud to have a father who loves games (kinda). When i was a kid, we used to play 8-bit games (fakes lol), he used to speedrun mario. I don't remember others. After some 2-3 year later we bought our home pc. AND then he downloaded nfs most wanted, i used to play all day long. Then he bought nfs carbon . I learnt pirating and downloaded gta 3 ,vc, and modern warfare. Away from yapping. I think im the only one among the ones i know that only loves the storyline and gameplay in a game (I prefer storyline, doesn't matter the gameplay). And the kids during lockdown were acting like pubg/free fire had the best graphics/gameplay , like stfu, ill play on my pc.kids just don't understand gaming, they only know EsPoRtS n shit

I agree with u indian gamers only knew to play pubg or else free fire .........i used to play Swordigo which is a award-winning mobile game people used to treat me like a kid because of that.....they used to say men play pubg and Freefire rest all games are for kids...................does this really make any sense games like Magic Rampage, ocean horn, jungle adventure, never alone ki edition, monster honor fight, grimvalor etc ........... I truly agree what you have said but I think the problem is in Indian streamers or so called youtubers which are not promoting Indian games but the betting apps they are promoting for their benefits if they will try to promote Indian game definitely their fan base will try to play this game and if you see big youtubers playing Minecraft and GTA V we also like to play Minecraft and GTA V and if they will try to play new games we will also accept them so why not Indian games

I am agree with your opinion. Some people says that indus is equivalent to apex legends. I can't even understand why, but apex legends mobile is way better than indus ( i am not spreading hate, it's my ow opinion). Our parents always think that gaming will ruin our life. I know study is important but playing games in my recess hour will not ruin everything. I don't know when this time will change. I know i could be better in e-sports and youtube. I will study and also make my career in gaming. But they won't listen to me. They will always force me to study. Studying everytime is not good for health. Today is the time, where intelligence affected by marks. No matter how good you're, but your marks are very important. It has no point. It's very bad. I hope they will learn about the good effects of gaming very soon. (Everyone has different opinions on this topic, this is my own opinion and I hope that i am a good community people from gaming)

Here are some of my thoughts- 1. India's developers don't have any characters or superheroes to make a story game. We can say we got krish,minnal murali characters like that but just think for a sec any foreign countries know about them then how can they publish a game based on those characters globally. 2. Open world games like gta,mafia,cyber punk. They have specific people or characters to make a story about and those characters completely give that vibe of that game. Do we really have anything like that given based on India's map. """And here one of my suggestions , make a game based on British india and our main protagonist was from one of the local india villages he grew up in an environment where they lived fear and hunger like that. And he grew up and joined a freedom fighters group and they used violence against the British Empire and our protagonist goes to briton too. He uses various methods there too. And the story goes like that... In the end you can make like he was executed or he joined netaji's group and he survived to see freedom""".

I live in Bangalore, yes there are game studios near by but the government is not accepting it, there was an game store near my house, they use to sell PlayStation games, even retro games like ps2 games or Nintendo games, but few months ago the shop was taken down, idk the reason but they built a sweet shop there. It was disappointing for me, there is an nvidia office around 40 km away from my house and that was taken down, now there is a mall instead. Idk why gaming related businesses in my city are being shut down, there is a gaming cafe nearby too name "THE GAMERS CORNER" I go there regularly to play ps5 but they are planning to remove the cafe from there, I asked the reason and they did not reply, I don't think India is not even going to come close to Europe gaming level, I don't see that even in 50 years, I really don't think India will improve in gaming at all.
