Looking thru pennies in the 60's never found one wasn't till 2015 found two. Seen a bag on ebay sold for .40 per coin. A simple penny that is 125 years old and only brings .40 is only 3% return on investment not very good. On they other hand a 125 year old penny that brings 4.45 is a 5% return on investment. My parents got Indian head pennies some where. It hard to find wheat already.

I've been finding indian heads metal detecting. They have that green patina on them however I can see all the detail on the coin and I think they are in perfect shape even the rims look good. can these green indian head cents still be valuable?

I have collecting for a couple years and I am trying to figure out how to differentiate the difference between the type of metal in the middle of 1864 Indian head pennies. Bronze or copper nickel. Is the weight different. I could US some advice on that please.
@jeffw12675 жыл бұрын
I specialize in Indian cents and I think many of the MS63 and 64s are undervalued, at least in the better dates. Sometimes MS62s are nice if they have good eye appeal, which most 62s don't. I avoid the 1900-1909 Philadelphia coins because they are as common as dirt though I did buy a 1902 MS66RB that is about 90% red. Proof Indians are also good, but I prefer spot-free examples and those are hard to find. Full red Indian cents are almost never worth the large additional premium.

Hi Daniel I have a question it's not an Indian head coin but driving me insane. I have a 1795 centered bust dollar that's got the small Eagle but it only weighs 22 grams I've had it tested in the silver is silver there's some discrepancies with a coin who would I take it to two get it authenticated

I use the PCGS website to see what the coin is going for, so I don't overpay for an eBay coin. It's also helpful if you're just curious about the value of a coin in your collection.
@jeffw12675 жыл бұрын
Oftentimes the PCGS prices are a bit inflated. If you're paying the full PCGS price guide spot, you need a superior coin for the grade. Preferably one with a CAC sticker. Even gem-quality coins can often be had for below the PCGS price guide. I sort by "Accepts offers" and take it from there. Generally Buy It Now prices are inflated, even for the ugly coins.

Would a silver color 1900 Indian head penny be fake? It is in amazing condition so I'm assuming it has to be fake, and the fact that I can't find a silver looking one anywhere

Funny about dates. 1859 ! Take note 📝 1959 the Lincoln penny changed from wheat 🌾 to memorial. 1909 was the first date of the Lincoln penny. Historic dates means a lot to the mint. Funny also about the 82 date. Coins and birthday dates play big part in changes.
@rf-bh3fh5 жыл бұрын
Wonder about record keeping at the mint? 58 to 59 ? Wondering if there are more Indian head 58’s out there. Did they mint only a few 58’s before the presses went into full production? Much to ponder 🤔?

I only pay a quarter each for common Indian heads that come into my shop. I can't sell them for love or money unless they are key dates. People don't understand how the business works on common coins.
@jeffw12675 жыл бұрын
I don't even mess with circulated Indian cents unless they are key dates, and even then I'd need at least an XF40. For the 1877 I might drop to VF20. Heavily worn Indian cents are just so common. It seems like everybody has one, even if they are not coin collectors.
