The blackmail thing is sadly quite common. A family friend of ours here in the UK (British Asian) got married to a girl from India in an arranged marriage. They had a kid, and then she suddenly took the child away to India without telling him and started claiming he was an abusive alcoholic. Demanded money to drop the charges and let him see his child. He did everything he could to try and secure her return to Britain but as far as I'm aware it hasn't worked and he will likely never see his daughter again, or even visit India as he could be arrested.

I wish I was surprised but I don't have enough faith in humanity. When people don't even have the romance of falling to think back to, when things don't work out, people just don't have much reason not to be vile 😢 (though I do wish kids would be enough to at least try to make some kind of truce) To be clear, I don't think that's specific to any culture, I just can see how arranged marriages would increase the commonality to it. There's nothing wrong with marrying via arrangement if that's what all parties want - but that's the key part.

I have an Indian friend who graduated from one of the best law schools in India and practices law. He told me that even though domestic abuse is common in India, most marital cases and domestic abuse cases cited as a reason for divorce are false. The wife usually falsely accused the in laws of domestic abuse. They are easy to disprove but it takes years and a hella lotta money so the dude's family tends to settle out out of court.
@TTHeavensent
@TTHeavensent 11 ай бұрын
@@e.t.theextraterristrial837Saying dmv is common against women then claiming it being cited as a reason for divorce in most cases is false ,is contradictory. A country rife with femicide,rape of women and domestic abuse has an issue with underreporting. Do some families practice extortion? Sure. But that doesn’t diminish the reality of living in that country as a woman.

About the money Sumit is paying for the divorce, it's the money his wife's family spent during the wedding, which he mentions in the clip in which he's talking to his friends. Traditionally, it's the bride's family that pays for the wedding in India. Along with this the bride's family also 'gifts' the groom's family jewelry, expensive clothes, electronics, even furnishings and vehicles or whole ass properties in some cases. So in the case of a divorce, all those things or the equivalent of their monetary value is returned, because the sum can sometimes be massive. Families usually save up for the wedding from the time a girl child is born.

I agree he is funny but never cruel? Hmmm did you miss all the comments about large ppl, Jenny’s age & Jenny’s looks? I understand he makes positive comments about their love while also mentioning how disgusting her wrinkles & other normal signs of aging are. @@goodstuff4430 lol yes listen to the video again & if you find nothing then you can call me a liar. If you want to be willfully ignorant go for it. BTW I happen to love his videos & I find him hilarious but let’s call a spade a spade. He does make jokes about ppl’s body’s & he will make comments about age. He also takes a lot of shots of US citizens that are more based on stereotypes but again he is funny. After watching more I do think it’s just his style but it’s always amusing to me when someone that seemingly has liberal views makes jokes that tend to more at their expense. Basically I’m saying he doesn’t seem to single any one group out too much but saying he never says anything mean is absurd. Some of his mental health views are really good & encouraging but some thoughts are flawed. A lot of ppl & obviously not just Leo tend to think that they can internet “diagnose” someone based on generic symptoms. It just comes off arrogant & could be dangerous bc they are not therapists. It’s also annoying when ppl that are not trained make comments that are borderline ignorant to those of us that actually know. Leo isn’t really in that group though, he’s awesome in normalizing mental health. So anyways yeah idk if your comment was purposely antagonistic or if you were just defending Leo. Well no need bc I am 100% a fan!

When his divorce lawyer called and said the divorce was final, Daddy literally hung up the phone and immediately proposed to Mama. They were married for 36 years when Mama died. @@aqua6613lol I wouldn’t exactly use Johnny & his wife as a romantic love story because he hurt his children from his first wife in his pursuit to be with June. June was also married (a couple times) as he constantly tried to seduce her as his wife was home taking care of their children. After the movie with Joaquin Phoenix & Reese Witherspoon came out, his daughter made statements indicating the portrayal of their mother being unsupportive of his music & miserable was inaccurate & other people in her community agreed with that. In my opinion a huge age gap with anyone under 25 is alarming but if you are older, then no one should really care. Sumit finished school, has had a job. He’s a fully grown and developed adult, it’s his business who he loves. With anyone under 25 I feel like there is a good chance that you can manipulate them easier. They might not be fully developed or are still not used to living an independent life.

I'm not so sure about that. Mentally, he's very immature, lives with his parents and is a virgin. He has 0 experiences in relationships. I don't think it's necessarily abusive, but it still weirds me out. He has had 0 chance to find someone who will grow old with him and who won't cause an uproar in his family

I think Sumit is quite naive for a 30 year old. I don't get abusive vibes from Jenny, she's just older and stuck in her ways a bit (though it's a very open minded move to go to INDIA). Also the fact that their relationship started like 10 years ago, so part of me thinks that he is bonded to her in a way. Not trauma bonded, but he's attached since she was probably one of his first relationships.

@Guineapigsreadingbooks 9 ай бұрын
I think it really depends on the stage of life they are in. People get to different stages at different times, and as long as the people in the relationship are in a similar one when they get together and go through the next ones together everything is okay. A thirty year old and a forty year old might be in extremely different life stages and incompatible, while a different thirty year old might be in a comparable place to a fifty year old. Under 25 year olds are going through stages quickly, and so it is unlikely that an age gap there can work.

If you look closer you can see that Jenni doesnt seem to care about what Sumit needs or wants, ans she forces him to do what she wants, from the Kama Sutra thing to moving to the US to having her nosy daughter butting in to the relationship going over Sumits head and causing more trouble for him, she is selfish and too set in her ways. Sumit lies to her to keep her at peace, which is no excuse, lying to your partner is a recipe for disaster. Sumit is in his prime and he has every right and it should be encouraged that he go out in the world and experience everything he can, and Jenni is in the time of her life where shes already done that and wants to relax and be happily boring, and she has every right too. I dont think Sumit feels the way he did, or how he says, I dont believe he is in love with Jenni anymore, and I think Jenni is holding on like a desperate woman who knows the truth in her heart but is in denial. They should go their separate ways, i truly believe that. I think they will always have love for each other but not in love.

For example, it will be situations where I don’t want to go someplace because I’m traumatized by how I felt going to that place forcefully, my whole childhood, and as an adult now still living with my parent, I don’t want to go because of the trauma. But then the speech of I raised you I gave you everything you have now you owe me type thing comes into play and what am I supposed to say to that you know. Trying to be with someone with such an age difference is kinda gross... I'm a grandma, I'm almost 60, I have a 20 yr old grandson... Jenny tries to Americanize everything. Ugh Why do I watch this?? Why go and just push to fight the whole time. She should have waited. And he seems like he gets caught up with lying to everyone to make them happy but never can because he says yes to things he can't, and promises he can't keep. At the end of the day, everyone around them are trying to keep them away from each other, just for their own convenience. Even if their relationship doesn't work out because of all the issues everyone brought up, it'll be on them and their own burden to carry. Sure, they might want their kid to be happy with "normal" life. But at the end, you're not going to be living it. He will. Same with Jenny.
@sushmitaraodesaraju6330

That's the thing, not all of the issues are created by people around them. Sumit makes things worse for himself with all the lying. And the biggest complication of all, him getting married and now trying to get divorced, didn't have to happen. If only Sumit had fought harder to not be pushed into a marriage he didn't want, he could've saved Jenny, his family and himself a lot of heartache.

Summit is a grown ass man… cultures aside… it is in fact his choice. Before I met my husband I was in a relationship of sorts with a man twice my age for a few years… we never planned on it being long term or getting married but we enjoyed each others company. People need to realize that everyone deserves to love and be loved… just because someone gets old it doesn’t mean they don’t still need companionship and intimacy
@ivymondal9663
@ivymondal9663 Жыл бұрын
Exactly , he is just blaming everything on Indian culture , I am from India and he had the choice to not get married and cut off ties with his family to live with Jenny, we have law and order and constitution in our country, it's not like his family could do any harm to them.
@jessthom1016
@jessthom1016 Жыл бұрын
@@ivymondal9663 it IS hard to cut off family. I do feel for him that he is stuck between that choice… I grew up with a narcissistic parent who still to this day emotionally blackmails me so she can get what she wants… and a lot of the times I cave because I want her to love me… the try to is I was born to serve and respect her in her mind. It’s not a mutual thing. I give Summit a pass in that case… because it’s hard. He’s caving on societal standards because his parents are worried about the side eye in their social circles. The older man I mentioned I had a relationship with was actually Indian lol. He came to America in his 30s… and when I spent time with him he used to talk about how even “back then” the caste system was illegal but his mom married his dad who was technically a caste below their family. I think he was more “blue collar” and her family was a military family? And there was a LOT of issues with that but she did it anyway and it all worked out eventually. The age thing… is hard in ALL cultures. People had issues with me having a close relationship with the person I did… but we never planned on marriage… I think if we were in that sort of relationship they’d have pushed back more. There are a lot of questions people ask with age… in ALL cultures. But his mom is being absolutely unforgiving… I think deep down she knows her relationship with her son is flawed and she wants to be the one who gets his attention… if he’s happy with someone she loses a piece of her son in her eyes. His previous marriage was awful for both parties so he was still heavily dependent on his mutter for his emotional needs.
