Indian Railway in Cresson, PA

These units were sitting in front of the Station Inn for quite awhile. Caught them as they were just about to head off. The Cresson, PA camera is free to all and can be found at www.railstream.net.

There was a fire at the curve that affected train traffic.

Griffin Beauregard it was caused by a transformer and power lines from it were at one time covering all three tracks and it was about a 4 hour fire with 3 firefighters injured one with a possible concussion two with dehydration and their was a water drop helicopter there also otherwise it might still be going without that helicopter.

Why do other countries who purchase locomotives from the US not get locos like we have? Why do they not get d9s and ACes and es44 and et44?

These locomotives (Indian designation WDG4G) are based on the Evolution Series design, but GE had to drastically drop off weight, axle load limit in India is lower than in US. Also, Indian Railway asked for two cab design, their locomotives often run single and American single cab design isn't suitable for running in reverse.

Some places do such as Australia, though they also go for dual cab units as well as regular single-ended cabs.
