The Holy Prophet Muhammad and the tragedy of Kar'bala: "When Prophet Muhammad informed His Daughter (Fatima Al-Zahra) about the killing of Her Son (Imam Hussain) and the tribulations that will fall upon Him, Sayyidah Fatima started to cry severely and said: "Oh Father, when will it happen"?.' The Prophet replied: 'In the time in which I, You and Ali will not be there. (Hearing this), She cried more severely and said: "Oh Father, who will cry over Him"? "And who will be committed to establish mourning for Him"?' Prophet Muhammad said: 'Oh Fatima, verily the women of My nation will cry over the Women of My Ahlul-Bait, the men of My nation will cry over the Men of My Ahlul-Bayt. And will continue and renew the Azadari generation after generation every year. And on the day of Qiyamah, you will intercede for the women and I will intercede for the men. And all those from amongst them who wept over the suffering of Hussain will take them by their hand and enter them in heaven. Oh Fatima, every eye will cry on the day of judgement, except for the eye which cried over the suffering of Hussain for they will be joyful in seeing the blessings of paradise."' Reference: Bihar Al-Anwaar, Vol. 44, 292-293. The Martyrdom of the Infant of Imam Hussain {Hazrat Ali Asghar} (Sunni Source) Al-Tabari. Abu Mikhnaf reports that: ‘Uqbah bin Bashir al-Asadi said: ‘Abu Ja’far Muhammad bin ‘Ali bin al-Hussain told me that; Imam Hussain then sat down and His Baby was brought to Him. (He was an infant or (a little) older than that) called ‘Abdullah bin Al-Hussain, and He seated Him on His lap. The baby was in His lap as one of the Banu Asad (either Harmalah bin Kahil or Hani’ bin Thubait al-Hadhrami) shot an arrow which slaughtered Him. Imam Hussain caught (the child’s) blood (in the palm of His Hand). When His palm was full, He poured it on to the ground and said: “Oh Lord, if it be so that You have kept the help of Heaven from Us, then let it be for something better (according to Your wisdom). Take vengeance on these oppressors on Our behalf.” Sunni reference: Tarikh Al-Tabari, Volume 3, page 332.

He says: Muhammad ibn ‘Ubayd has related to us from Sharhabil ibn Madrak from ‘Abdullah ibn Nujayy from his father, who narrates that he was marching with Hzt Ali towards Siffiin and when we reached Ninevah, Hzt Ali cried in a loud voice, “Oh Aba ‘Abdillah! Be patient. Oh Aba ‘Abdillah! Be patient beside the River Euphrates.” I asked Him: “Be patient for what?” He replied: “Once when I went to the Prophet, I saw tears in His eyes and asked Him: ‘Oh Messenger of Allah who has made You upset? Why are Your eyes moist with tears? The Prophet responded: ‘A little while ago, the Archangel Gabriel left. He has informed Me that Hussain will be killed beside the River Euphrates’. Then He (the Prophet) asked Me: ‘Would you like to smell part of His soil (where Imam Hussain will be killed)? I responded: ‘Yes’. He stretched out His Hand and, taking a fistful of soil, gave it to Me. As a result, tears started rolling down uncontrollably from My eyes.” The annotator of the Musnad regards the isnad of this hadith as sahih and writes that Nujayy is not the only one to narrate this from Imam Ali.
