This is a normal thing in service/repair industry, especially where more technicality or electronics involved. Led television, refrigerators, air-conditioners and cars, where a consumer cannot understand the functions of a product to be repaired. Some of these technicians take advantage of the situation. Always take second opinion or repair estimate from other technician, just to verify the damage or repair.

This happens in the US as well to often. I own a small hvac service and constantly come behind scammers who always try and sell unnecessary parts or new installations. A lot of this has to do with “performance pay” or commission based pay. “Pigs get Fat and Hogs get slaughtered “ treat others how you like to get treated. That’s the way I think!

These type of fraud is most common in AC servicing. Everywhere. Second is in Car servicing, especially in service center's. Have you watched what grade of engine oil is filled? whether the oil is in sealed can or taken from a drum of service center. Whether the old oil is fully drained? You are not allowed to stand near your car. Always do car servicing with local garage, brand new car or old. Warranty has no meaning in India. Go to service center if you want to change some parts if genuine parts are not available outside. Servicing of brand new car in authorized servicing center has no meaning because they do nothing except washing the car and oil, filter change. Buy your own oil and change it in local shop. That is safer.

Generally the causes or to do with the capacitor or the gas level in the AC being too low. Get a trustworthy technician to look at it, or at least supervise them when they’re working on the AC. I ended up changing the AC itself. I decided not to spend any more money repairing it.

First the customer tried to scam urban company by associating with the technician in scamming the company of it's revenue and fell prey to his own greed and in the end the same company helped him whom he tried to scam along with the technician . Moral of the story , one should never be like this customer or the technician as both committed breach of trust.

It is really good that you have come up with this fraud. People normally never tells when they are cheated. Video is really very well complied. Also there is a bad thing that you have got the job done offline, it is something like corruption. If the company is charging something then threre is a background cost which is involved, you should consider that. The company would have denied that you cancelled the job and after that what ever you have done is outside their limit. Lesson learnt is never just leave technician attended.

Same thing happened with me .....they told me the price around 5000....after that they said if I can cancel the request they will do it for 3500.......they charged me 1500 for capacitor......rest 2000 for filling gas.....now I don't know whether they filled the gas or not.....but a/c is working fine
